  Contractors be aware! This is not a place you want to use if you value your business commitments. I had equipment reserved and paid for to complete a project. When i arrived they told me i had to pay double what i had already paid for because they booking agent at United Rentals didn't know what they were doing. My forst thought was, so United Rentals doesn't know what United Rentals is doing? My options were to pay another large amount of money or leave without my reserved equipment. I left and will be canceling my corporate account with United Rentals. Dont trust this company to stand behind their commitments, because they absolutely don't and do not care about us as business owners and our commitments to our clients. Find another rental company and keep your reputation strong.

  I will never use United Rentals again and i suggest, especially if you are a business owner that values your time and commitment to a job timeline. I have been using this company for years and have never had a problem until 2 weeks ago. I made a reservation, (And paid for said reservation in advance), for heavy equipment to be picked up on a Thursday for a project that was to be completed by the following Monday for an important client and this had to be completed before The Masters Golf tournament. I arrive to pick up my equipment, and the first thing i notice is the guy behind the desk is on the phone yelling at someone so thats not fun. Then when i tell him I'm there to pick up my equipment he tell me i need to pay another $1000.00 dollars for the rentals I've already secured, have paid for, and are already under contract. He told me that the agent had no idea what they were doing when they booked the contract, that they arent open during the weekend so i needed to pay him another $1000.00 or just leave without my already contracted and paid for equipment. So i left and had to explain to my client that United Rentals lied to me and broke their contract and thats why the job would not be completed on time. Anyone in the Augusta area knlws how important Masters week is to the local community and getting their properties ready for rental week. When i showed them the contract they couldn't believe a company as big as United Rentals would do something like this. We both agreed to never contract with United Rentals again and we both agreed to let all of our business partners and contractors know how they do business and if they wanted a job done on time that they would need to use another rental company, one that stands behind what they say and honer their standing contracts. This was a horrible experience for me and for my client. I had to offer my client a discount because i could not finish the job on-time and she had to explain to her renters why her yard was half complete. All parties involved now know that United Rentals is a company you cannot trust. Never use this company unless you really dont care about your time, your clients time or your wallet. Luckily i have found a new company that seems great so I'll be using them from now on and canceling my corporate accounts with United Rentals.

  In December 2025, I needed a boom lift. Aiken SC location didn't have one available for my dates, but the rep on the phone said I can get one in Augusta, GA. I am exempt from SC sales tax, and the rep said another state is not a problem. At the pick up, the associates copied my SCATE card to initiate the process, but "had" to charge me GA sales tax. At the drop off, I was assured I will get a refund, but it never happened. Beware of what they talk, don't get in the situation like mine.
