Our electrical company was founded in 1975 as Edd Helms Inc. by W. Edd Helms, Jr. Our air conditioning company was founded in 1952 as McDonald Air Conditioning by Frank McDonald, Jr. and was acquired in 1994 by Edd Helms Inc. In 1999, we merged with Hotelecopy and established our parent company name as Edd Helms Group, Inc.
The Edd Helms Group provides electrical services under the name of Edd Helms Electric, mechanical and air conditioning services under the name of Edd Helms Air Conditioning, tradeshow and event services under the name of Edd Helms Trade Shows & Events, and building automation services under the name of Gulfstream Controls.

- RSROSA SANDOVALJun 30, 20265.0My experience with Edd Helms has been excellent. Did buy my TRANE AC back in 2001 and lasted for 25 years without any problems at all. Of course maintenance is key for a system to last, and Edd Helms did it also; thank you Edd Helms, you are the best ! Have just bought my new TRAINE AC in June 2026 from them hoping for the best considering the above. Keep up the good work Edd Helms ! I am presently enjoying my new AC very much with the usual confidence Edd Helms provides.
- BRBrian RookJun 30, 20265.0Work was done quickly. Had electric work done to old "fuse" box, checked outside circuit breaker box, proper grounded installed.
- MMMaloyJun 26, 20261.0I would not recommend working with them for the following reasons: They repeatedly claim that services and filter replacements were completed, even though I have provided proof, including dates on the filters, showing that the work was not done. They have come out numerous times for service calls, and in at least one instance, the AC unit was damaged. They denied responsibility, despite another vendor being able to identify and explain exactly what was done to cause the issue. Their pricing is approximately twice as high as other vendors, largely because they are union-based. Overall, my experience has been that their work is unreliable, accountability is lacking, and their pricing is not competitive.

The tech (Steven) did a great job doing basic maintenance on the two units, he inspected and serviced them thoroughly, explained everything well, and he also made a minor repair quickly (new capacitor). I signed up for the biannual service so we'll be seeing them again soon. From the looks of the units, it seemed like maintenance had been deferred for a while, so it's nice to know they'll be well taken care of going forward.
