I had a great experience working with Jose. He came out, measured the rooms to be carpeted and helped with the timing of the install. I had to split the install into 2 parts to give me time to donate some of my furniture. The 2 guys who did the install were professional and did a great job. I love my new carpet. When I get to the last room to redecorate I will definitely go back to The Carpet Store!

I had a great experience working with Jose! He was super helpful from the start and helped me find exactly what I had in mind when I came in. He was also very flexible with scheduling the measuring, incredibly responsive throughout the entire process, and made everything easy from start to finish. I really appreciated how helpful and accommodating he was. Highly recommend asking for Jose if you’re looking for new carpet!

Erik was so helpful. He showed us everything ahead of time in the color shades we liked and was knowledgeable on what products we needed to complete our project. No waiting. We had everything we needed at half the price Lowe's would have been. We will be back when we start out next project.

UPDATE:
my dad took me to this store since I was little, I’ve lived in St. Pete my whole life and I love this gem of a business. whenever someone is looking for flooring/tile I tell them about this place & feel proud to send them. my original post tells a story about the sales experience that went awry, however my overall experience was QUICKLY corrected and was much more reflective of the high expectations i’ve developed over the years for The Carpet Store. in the end i got what I’m used to from this business: quality carpet, padding, & lining, another seamless transaction, another beautiful stress free installation scheduled and completed by kind men who were pleasant to have in my home as they completed their work (dave & zack) ☺️ the owner ensured that the sales culture they cultivate isn’t aligned with the experience I had below. I believe him. i will remain a returning client & im so happy I stuck with them!
Original Post:
Let me start with this, you should still shop for flooring here. I think it’s a great place & i’m a returning customer. But I think my experience is unique enough it’s valuable to share bc it caused a real delay in purchase, installation, and shows the real consequences of poor work flow.
1- came in ready to buy, budget in mind, I’ve been there many times I know how to shop the store (remnants, clearance, i know my measurements, i know what i want too). I find myself some options & start walking back towards the desk to finalize the quotes (labor, padding, lining, ect) i end up with a really kind dude who worked up 3 quotes. the store was minutes to closing so he told me to think it over & call him & he can complete the sale over the phone. sadly it wasn’t that easy - i spent 2 weeks trying to reach him.
2- since i then found myself shopping tile bc of an unplanned bathroom reno i went BACK to this store thinking surely someone will be there to also sell me some carpet - well the tile situation was glazed over & we went to check on the quotes I was given previously (this is a different sales person) come to find out the remnants I wanted sold & so i opted for a different carpet HOWEVER the sales person said he wants to have the other sales person call me to complete the sale bc it was his sale first.. well i never hear from this person… why?? they called an outdated number (after i made sure to give them the right number multiple times) & apparently a disgruntled person answered & told them I DIED 🫠 which sent the sales men into a tizzy apparently bc when i called them i couldn’t even talk about the carpet i wanted to buy bc they were emotionally processing the fact im alive & well. the second sales guy was there one who answered (again) and told me he’d have the first guy call me (again 😟) he did actually call me this time ONCE and when i called back over and over i could not get in touch with him.
3- some time passes & i’m less than 2 weeks from having a baby - i wanted my carpet! so i call. i get the 2nd dude again. not only could he not fulfill some things he insinuated would be easy to accomplish but he also decided to tell me how he and the other sales person are splitting the commission from my sale so he doesn’t want to screw the other guy over by changing the deal too much… after weeks of trying so hard to buy a carpet i finally say that while i of course care about them as individuals… i kind of don’t care that they are splitting the commission & he said “i know you
don’t” 🥲🥲 okay i didn’t know spending weeks tip toeing around your office politics was giving i didn’t care but it’s really not my problem and i just want to buy some carpet. in the end he suggested i just come in … AGAIN!!! 🥲 now im considering just buying elsewhere bc its just .. awkward now! anyways, this was just bizarre & they missed on a tile sale and missed selling me multiple times i started to take it as a sign 😭

Quite possibly the worst experience I've ever had in my life. From the beginning, the communication was poor, the workmanship was substandard, and the customer service was incredibly disappointing.
The installation itself was riddled with issues. There are numerous defects throughout the flooring, including areas with movement, uneven spots, visible imperfections, and boards that should have never been installed in the first place. Even after multiple attempts to address these problems, the flooring is still in terrible condition.
What was most frustrating was dealing with Scott Manning, the salesman, and David Meachem, the General Manager. I spoke with both of them numerous times over the course of this project, yet neither was able to resolve the issues or provide a satisfactory solution. Communication was inconsistent, follow-up was lacking, and I was often left feeling like my concerns were being minimized instead of addressed.
To make matters worse, the company sent out a second installer to evaluate the work and complete an unfinished part of the job. While at our home, he acknowledged that portions of the installation had not been completed properly and should be redone. Hearing that from someone representing the company only reinforced what we had been saying all along. Despite that acknowledgment, the problems remain unresolved.
What should have been an exciting home improvement project that was promised to take 4 days turned into the worst 10 days of my life. The installers broke the water line to my fridge and tried to have their unlicensed friend fix it without making us aware of it. Luckily we came home in time to discover it and later had to have the job redone by a licensed plumber because the line broke again and flooded our kitchen.
Between the poor craftsmanship, lack of accountability, rude interactions with both Scott and David, and overall incompetence in handling of the situation, this has been one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had.
My final breaking point was complete dismissal by David despite my numerous calls and Scott telling me "if I could wiggle my nose and fix all the problems I would" and that his only suggestion would be to contact his cousin and the owner of the company Brian Manning.
If you're considering having flooring installed, I would strongly encourage you to do your research and consider other companies. I wish I had.
Attached are only a handful of the 30+ problems we've discovered.
