Randell P. from Custom Air was great! He really helped out in a bind. My wife and I were vacationing in Europe when the AC unit here at our house went out. Only our son was here too take care of things, but Randell was able to correspond with us while we were overseas and tend to everything here in LWR while we were away. He made an extremely inconvenient situation, very comfortable and reassuring while we were gone. Thanks again, Randell and thanks again Custom Air for your quick turnaround time!
I manage Airbnb properties in the area, and we recently had an issue with the AC at one of them. The homeowner has used this company for years, including regular maintenance, so naturally I called them for this repair. They had actually serviced the property just two months earlier.
The appointment was scheduled for the following day between 2:00 and 4:30 PM. Because this is a vacation rental, I specifically requested that they call me before arriving so I could notify the guests.
No one arrived during the scheduled time, and no one called to let me know they were running late. When I contacted the office, the dispatcher simply said the technician was delayed. No apology was offered. I was told the new estimated arrival time would be around 5:30 PM.
Once again, no one arrived, and no one called. I had to contact the office a second time, only to receive the same response: the technician was running late. Again, there was no apology or communication. The technician finally arrived after 7:00 PM.
I am very disappointed with the way this situation was handled. Delays can happen, but a lack of communication and basic courtesy is unacceptable, especially when managing a vacation rental with paying guests. I will strongly recommend that the homeowner find a different HVAC company in the future. Based on the company's recent reviews, it appears I am not the only customer who has had this type of experience.
I received a notice from the Sarasota County Public Utilities Department that my Backflow Preventer Test was due. The notice included a list of authorized contractors, and I chose Custom Air and Plumbing. That turned out to be a mistake.
I scheduled the service for June 22, 2026, between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. I rearranged my work schedule so I could be home. At 5:55 p.m., after no technician arrived, I called to check on the appointment. I was then informed that it had been rescheduled to the following morning between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. No phone call. No text. No email. No notification of any kind.
The representative apologized and confirmed that someone needed to be home for the appointment.
So I rearranged my schedule again.
The next morning, no one showed up.
When I called, I received another apology and another request to reschedule. We agreed on Monday, June 29, between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. I even received an email confirming that appointment.
For the third time, I adjusted my work schedule.
For the third time, no one showed up.
At 10:00 a.m., I called and spoke with Ron, who informed me that my appointment had once again been changed—this time to 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. I asked the obvious question: Why was I never notified? I was staring at an email confirming an 8:00-10:00 a.m. appointment, yet the company had once again changed it without the courtesy of informing me.
At that point, I canceled the service. Three appointments. Three schedule changes. Three times I rearranged my work schedule. Three times Custom Air and Plumbing demonstrated that my time simply didn’t matter.
What happened next was almost unbelievable.
The following day, June 30, at approximately 10:10 a.m., a technician showed up at my door to perform the backflow test—even though I had canceled the job. I literally laughed because I couldn’t believe the level of dysfunction. The technician was polite and clearly wasn’t responsible for the scheduling chaos, so I explained what had happened. He apologized and left.
Everyone makes mistakes. One missed appointment is a mistake. Two is a serious problem. Three appointments, three unannounced schedule changes, repeated apologies, no communication, and then sending a technician after the job had been canceled is no longer a mistake—it’s a systemic failure.
What frustrates me most isn’t that things went wrong. It’s the complete disregard for a customer’s time. Every time they changed the schedule without notice, they expected me to absorb the inconvenience. Every phone call ended with an apology, yet nothing changed. An apology means very little when it is repeated instead of followed by corrective action.
After this experience, I have no confidence that the front office is capable of managing something as straightforward as scheduling a simple backflow test. If they cannot reliably keep or communicate an appointment for a routine service, I would have serious reservations about trusting them with a major plumbing or HVAC project.
There are plenty of reputable contractors in Sarasota County. I strongly recommend choosing one that understands a simple principle of customer service: your customers’ time is just as valuable as your own.
I have been a loyal customer of Custom Air for nearly 16 years and have always been impressed with their service. Over the past week, they have far exceeded my expectations regarding service and price. Almost a week ago, my main air conditioning unit died (this time for good) and we quickly determined that a total replacement was necessary. First, Chad Weaver, their Technical Engineer contacted me about all my options to get this replacement done as quickly as possible. Fortunately, he had maintained all the specs and photos of the offending unit when he was here several years ago, so we were able to finalize everything over the phone. So, within 24 hours of me contacting Custom Aire everything was set up for a new install 3 days later and Chad was at my front door with 2 window air conditioners to tide us over until the new installation was done on Monday. Chad was everything that you look for in a sales consultant. He listened to my needs, did not try to upsell and got me exactly what I was looking for at a very reasonable price.
On the day of installation, I was notified that the installers would arrive between 8:00 am - 10:00 am and, like clockwork, Griffin & Alex arrived at 8:06 am. They were young, personable, knowledgeable and extremely hard working. They began the project and worked non-stop for the next 7 hours until the job was done and the house was cooling - no breaks, no lunch. Plus, they worked clean, leaving the work area as spotless as when they walked through the door. Now that is a very strong work ethic. Once they were ready to leave, I made sure to tell them that I will always request them for future Air Conditioner replacements.
No one likes to have a major air conditioning meltdown during the start of an extremely hot Florida summer but, all-in-all this turned out to be certainly not the worst 5 days of my life.
Thank you Custon Air and Thank you Chad, Griffin & Alex for an extremely Well Done job.

Our A/C has been serviced twice a year by Custom Air for about four years now. When it came time to replace the system, Jacob came to assess the system, address the concerns we felt needed to be looked at when considering a new system, and thoroughly went over options and details to consider. He was so helpful and kind considering such an incredibly large purchase. Griffin and Alex came to install our new, upgraded system and whole house air purification system, and they were fantastic as well. Everyone at Customer Air from the person who answers the phone to the service techs are courteous, patient, fair, and trustworthy. Thank you for being detail oriented and customer focused!
