  I am giving Abbotts Construction a 1-star rating due to severe project management and billing issues, despite some great field staff. To be fair, the frontline team was excellent. Chris Hachey (Sales Rep) was knowledgeable and informative. Yefrid and his crew did an exceptional job on the actual boat lift installation. The electrician did a phenomenal, perfect job. Furthermore, the DECO Boat Lift equipment itself (the Concept CRS w/ remote control and auto stop provided by Richard Massell) is well-built and excellent. Unfortunately, management fell completely short. The day before installation, four lift pilings were delivered that were entirely unacceptable. Three were undersized at a 9-inch diameter tapered down to 7.5 inches (the manufacturer recommends 10-inch pilings for a 6,000lb lift). One was deeply split down its length, and the fourth was badly bowed with a deep 4-inch cut. No one from Abbotts bothered to physically inspect them before delivery. While their installer Yefrid agreed they were unacceptable and needed replacement, my phone call to the Project Manager, Rhett, was met with a condescending attitude. He actually suggested that I go to the lumberyard and pick them out myself. I demanded that he go do it instead. The pilings were eventually replaced with the correct size, but Rhett's lack of professionalism was discouraging. The final breaking point was the billing. My final invoice included an unexplained $1,200 additional charge ($300 per piling) for "drilling into clay." When I called the office, Kassidy had no answers but said she would ask Rhett. Rhett claimed it was for clay, but my contract explicitly states a drill charge only applies if "ROCK" is encountered. It says nothing about clay. I personally observed the installation crew and saw zero placement issues or obstructions, an observation echoed by the crew themselves. I challenged this underhanded charge with the front office, but nothing was done. If the ownership condones these types of business practices, it is shameful. Homeowners in the Nokomis area looking to install a DECO boat lift should absolutely buy the equipment, but I strongly advise protecting yourself by asking the manufacturer for a different certified installation contractor. Based on my experience, Abbotts lacks the professionalism and integrity required for a project of this scale.

  Abbotts did a demolition of our old seawall and installed a new one. While the start of the project was delayed due to a backlog of work brought on by the COVID pandemic, we were very happy with our choice to choose Abbotts for the work as compared to two other contractors who submitted work proposals and bids. Rhett Wiggins was straight forward from beginning to end. Our project was complicated by the fact that we working with Abbotts remotely outside of Florida. Rhett was very patient and thorough in explaining the scope of work (SOW), any changes in scope necessary due to seafloor conditions, etc. The job was completed according to the agreed SOW and without any cost overruns. The workmanship quality was excellent. Jessica Wiggins was also very helpful in working with us regarding inspections and closing out the project. While building a seawall is not something I would like to repeat, we would definitely recommend Abbotts to do the job again.

  Everyone I dealt with at abbotts was very friendly he conducted themselves with the utmost professionality.I would recommend them to anyone who is in need of their services.
