After reviewing three bids, I selected JMI Windows and Doors to install new hurricane-rated windows and doors on my home. Their price was better than their competitors’, and I ultimately received the windows and doors that I ordered. However, the project has had many issues and took three times longer than expected. The salesperson told me that my order of 16 CWS-brand windows and two sliding glass doors would take approximately 8–12 weeks from order to installation. Instead, it took six months before installation even began and nine months to complete. Day 1: A small installation crew arrived and got to work. Shortly after starting, the crew leader realized he had left the permit book at the office and had to leave to retrieve it. The remaining workers didn't appear to have much experience with window replacement, which made me uncomfortable with them installing the first window without supervision. To keep the project moving, I volunteered to drive 20 minutes to pick up the permit book myself. My home has vinyl siding, and the first crew struggled significantly with reinstalling it. They spent a lot of time pounding on the siding trying to get it back together after the windows were installed. Days 2–4: A much larger crew arrived, and most of the windows were installed without major issues. The sliding doors were also installed. This required grinding the concrete slab, creating a large cloud of dust throughout the house. After several minutes, the crew brought in a blower to try to direct the dust outside, but by then the dust had already spread throughout the home. The installers discovered that one of the windows was the wrong size. I was told the warehouse manager would expedite a replacement, but it still took another three months to receive the correct window from CWS. The front of my home has rough-sawn cedar trim. The crew replaced the window trim with nice, new PVC trim but installed it with the smooth side facing outward, making it noticeably different from the rest of the house. They also appeared to run short on trim and joined two smaller pieces together next to the front door, which looked very poor. I contacted the project manager, Jane, and after several messages, she agreed to send someone out to replace that piece of trim. The six front-facing windows have decorative grids between the glass panes, but one window was installed with the grid pattern oriented opposite from the others, making it noticeably inconsistent. The crew installing the window above the flat roof caused a leak that damaged my dining room ceiling. I repaired the roof and ceiling myself shortly afterward and chose not to involve JMI. I was surprised when one of the best workers accidentally drove the trailer into our mailbox causing the handle to be bent. He never mention it, I had to look at security camera to see what happened. During the course of this project, I worked with four different project managers. Very high turnover! The reason this is a three-star review instead of a one-star review is that JMI ultimately completed the project, honored the original contract price, and offered more competitive pricing than the other companies that I considered. However, the excessive delays, installation issues, quality-control problems, and need for repeated follow-up made the overall experience far more frustrating than it should have been. NOTE: The company offers a $50 gift card if you give them a 5 star review. I opted to give an honest review!

Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Poor communication, poor craftsmanship, and troubling business practices. I reached out in October 2024. I was interested in the Dam Easy Flood Barrier, but was talked into the Garrison aluminum flood plank system instead, with a clear promise that the mounts and brackets would be fully removable. Getting to the actual install took months. They had to redo measurements before I even received a quote, which then came to the wrong email and arrived a second time without any attachments. After signing, they came out again for another round of measurements, didn't have the right parts, and rescheduled the installation the morning it was scheduled. When the installation was completed, the anchors were protruding from the wall and loosely secured. When I went to test mount the brackets a few weeks later, several anchors spun in place and couldn't be tightened, and one had a seized nut from residual concrete dust that couldn't be removed at all. I reached out to the manufacturer, who confirmed the anchors were not recommended for removeable applications. They made a few attempts to fix it between September and October 2025. The first visit left broken chunks in my walls, requiring them to return just to patch the damage they caused. On the final visit the crew drilled two holes, said they needed a different drill bit, and never came back. When I inspected the new anchors, they weren't drilled deep enough and didn't align with the brackets, clearly a craftsmanship issue. I received a text stating they would not return because they were alleging I used an impact drill on the system and that is why it did not work properly. I had never used any power tools on the installation. To date, I do not have a working system, am left with undrilled and unusable mounts, and have been quoted nearly the full cost of the initial work to repair their damage to the original state. Their response to an attorney's demand letter was to demand the final payment with interest, without making the install correct.
