Mariner replaced our aging seawall and dock.
Their quote was very detailed and the pricing was reasonable.
The quality of their work was exceptional.
Communication with them before, during and after construction was completed has been very good.
90 feet of seawall and a 70-foot dock was a large project for us but they worked diligently to finish the job in a timely manner.
I highly recommend the crew at Mariner Dock & Seawall.

Frequently Asked Questions About Mariner Dock & Seawall
How long does permitting take?
The permitting process usually takes between 4 and 6 weeks to complete. After permits are approved, we typically schedule your project within 2 weeks, providing timely service while ensuring full compliance with all regulatory standards.
How do I know if I need to repair or replace my boat lift?
Warning signs that your boat lift needs attention include slower lifting speeds, unusual noises during use, frayed cables, visible rust, or lifting that appears unbalanced. The saltwater conditions in Southwest Florida speed up wear on components through salt corrosion, moisture, and strong sun exposure. A professional evaluation will help determine if routine maintenance-like replacing cables, motors, or pulleys-can restore proper function, or if a complete replacement offers better value and safety for the long term. We suggest scheduling regular inspections to keep your equipment running smoothly.
What size boat lift do I need for my boat?
Choosing the right boat lift requires considering multiple important factors such as your boat's weight, length, width, and how you use it. Experts typically suggest selecting a lift with a weight capacity that exceeds your boat's fully loaded weight by at least 20-25% to maintain safe operation and extend the system's life. Our installation team will assess your water depth, dock setup, and local tidal patterns along Southwest Florida's coast to suggest the best lift style and capacity for your situation.
How long does boat lift installation take?
Most boat lift installations are finished within one to three days, based on the lift type, current dock structure, and site-specific conditions. Installations that need extra components like new pilings, electrical connections, or special permits may take longer. Our skilled marine contractors provide efficient installation that meets all regulations for Southwest Florida's coastal areas.
How do I know if my seawall needs repair or replacement?
Warning signs that your seawall needs work include noticeable cracks, sections tilting forward, soil washing away behind the wall, sinkholes forming near your property line, or water leaking through the structure. The coastal conditions in Southwest Florida expose seawalls to constant saltwater and changing tides that gradually weaken their structural strength. A professional evaluation will help identify whether specific repairs can solve the problem or if full replacement is the better long-term investment.
How long does a seawall typically last in Florida?
The lifespan of a seawall depends on the materials used, environmental conditions, and how well it's maintained. Concrete seawalls typically last 30-50 years, while vinyl or composite options may provide longer service when installed correctly. Routine professional inspections and upkeep, especially after storm seasons, greatly increase seawall life and help avoid costly structural damage. Mariner Dock & Seawall focuses on installing durable vinyl and composite seawalls built specifically for Florida's coastal conditions.
Do I need permits to install or repair a seawall in Southwest Florida?
Yes, permits are necessary for most seawall installations and major repairs, granted by local and state authorities. These requirements help protect water quality, maintain marine habitats, and ensure safety for surrounding properties. Our team at Mariner Dock & Seawall handles the complete permitting process for you, maintaining full compliance with all regulations throughout Sarasota, Manatee County, and nearby coastal regions.
How long does it take to build a custom dock?
Custom dock construction timelines depend on design details, materials chosen, site characteristics, and permit approval. Generally, the building phase takes one to two weeks once permits are obtained. More complex designs that include boat lifts, electrical installations, or multiple boat slips may take longer. Our dock construction team walks clients through every step from design and permitting through final completion, delivering safe and efficient results.
Why is the ground behind my seawall eroding?
Erosion behind seawalls often occurs due to water seepage, wave impact, or poor drainage. Over time, rainwater, tidal shifts, and storms can slowly wash soil away, weakening the wall's foundation and potentially threatening its stability. Consistent professional inspections and proper maintenance-including backfill replacement, drainage upgrades, or structural reinforcement-successfully prevent continued erosion. Our VIP Service Club members receive scheduled seawall evaluations and personalized preventative maintenance plans to safeguard their waterfront property.
What materials are best for docks in Southwest Florida?
The best dock materials for Florida's coastal climate need to resist continuous saltwater contact, humidity, and strong sun exposure. Many homeowners choose pressure-treated wood, composite decking, or tropical hardwoods, paired with marine-grade hardware. The right choice depends on your budget, maintenance expectations, and how you plan to use your dock. Our team can offer detailed recommendations on material options appropriate for your waterfront property.
