I’m giving Ft Collins Heating and Air Conditioning a 5 because their recent customer service showed this is a business that follows the golden rule. I also want to mention that this is a local business—it’s not owned by private equity.
Ft Collins heating had installed a mini split in our home 2016 and provided excellent yearly maintenance until 2024.
We hit a snag in 2024 when a technician damaged the system. The follow up, which was overseen by my 25 year old son, took several visits and didn’t fully address the problem. He had other issues to deal with and gave trying to deal with the underlying issue. I didn’t understand what all had had happened until this spring, 2026.
I called FCHA and was put in contact with Harrison, who I believe is VP of service. Right away he sent a tech to assess the damage. When the damage had been assessed he took time to talk through the issue and possible paths forward. I felt very lucky that he works for the company. He is an excellent manager with great people skills and he’s very straight forward. I didn’t have any doubts about the integrity of the company after talking with him. Additionally, Joshua Black was also great to deal with. He promptly sent along specifications of a couple of systems for me to look at. He’s a genuinely nice person and a great communicator. Scheduling got in touch with me right after I made my choice and the installation, by Sam, was done beautifully. The system he installed is working great and knowing we are on good footing is much appreciated.
Ft Collins Heating handles a lot of volume, and I was so impressed by the way Harrison made sure that our problem was as corrected in the best way possible. The interactions I had were very intentional and I could feel that this was a locally owned and operated company that takes pride in its reputation,
Thank you!

Shawn County of Fort Collins Heating and Air Conditioning was sincerely one of the very best technicians of any industry I've come across. He is the best example of what a company representative should be.
He was attentive and listened to my needs, didn't charge me for anything I didn't need, and offered up services I truly required. He took care to keep my floors clean and respected our space. He set me up to succeed as a customer, was very thoughtful, and was incredibly efficient.
I cannot rave enough about the fine folks at Fort Collins Heating and Air Conditioning! From the ease of setting up the appointment to the final reasonable payment, they are an exception to what many companies have become.

Part 1: Fort Collins heating and air scheduled us within 24 hours. The technician Shaun was on time and friendly and helpful. We had kind of a complicated issue so he even explained it to my husband over the phone. We will definitely call this company again!
Part 2: After a lot of trouble shooting we ended up having to get a new compressor so Jason came out to install. Again, a courteous, professional, friendly guy. I appreciated that he took the time to explain to me so many things to help the unit last longer…maintenance tips, don’t run the humidifier in the summer, how changing filter more frequently can not only improve air quality, but also reduce the dust in your house and help with allergies… I am so much smarter now! He also spoke very highly of the family Owned company that he works for saying all the employees are happy and I appreciate knowing that. I was impressed that before he ever came out I got a text reminder with the technicians picture and background information. Another thing to mention is that scheduling was a breeze. It is such a relief to call a company and talk to a real person. Impressed by this company’s ability to communicate effectively with the customer. On top of that, our AC works! Thank goodness.!! It was getting hot in here! thank you, Jason!!
I contacted this company for an urgent service issue and was given a specific appointment window for that evening. Based on that information, I rearranged my schedule and stayed home waiting for the technician to arrive.
As the appointment window came and went, I still hadn't received any updates, phone calls, or notifications. When I finally reached out to find out what was going on, I was informed that no one would be coming after all. There had been no attempt to let me know beforehand, despite knowing I was expecting service.
The most disappointing part wasn't even the missed appointment—it was the complete lack of communication. A simple call or message would have saved hours of waiting and allowed me to make other arrangements sooner.
If you're unable to honor a scheduled appointment, customers deserve to be informed instead of being left wondering whether someone is still coming.
Very frustrating experience.

Hunter from Fort Collins Heating & Air Conditioning earned my trust today. My air conditioning system suddenly stopped cooling, I scheduled appointments with two HVAC companies. As a homeowner without a technical HVAC background, I wanted more than one professional opinion before making any major repair or replacement decisions.
Hunter took the time to thoroughly evaluate the system and explain what he was seeing and why. He found that the capacitor had failed, which prevented the outdoor fan from operating properly. He explained that because the fan wasn't running, the compressor had overheated and temporarily shut itself down. After addressing the capacitor issue and allowing the compressor to cool, he re-tested the system and verified that it was operating correctly.
What impressed me most was that Hunter didn't just tell me the system was working--he showed me the measurements and explained them in plain language. He walked me through the refrigerant readings, explained what R22 is, and showed that my system was producing a 21-degree temperature difference between the return and supply air, which is exactly where it should be. As someone who doesn't speak "HVAC," I greatly appreciated having the numbers explained in a way I could understand.
I also appreciated that Hunter was honest about the age of my equipment. He recommended budgeting for a future replacement because the system is older, but he was equally clear that I did not need to replace it today and that he did not see an immediate safety concern. He never pressured me into purchasing a new system and answered every question patiently and professionally.
In the end, he restored cooling to my home and gave me confidence in the diagnosis by taking the time to educate me throughout the process. His honesty, technical knowledge, professionalism, and willingness to explain everything clearly made a stressful situation much easier to navigate.
If you're looking for a technician who will thoroughly evaluate the problem, explain things in terms a homeowner can understand, and provide recommendations without pressure, I highly recommend Hunter and Fort Collins Heating & Air Conditioning.
