  I had a fantastic experience with Marc Paynter from Don’s Garage Door. Marc arrived right on time, was extremely professional, and, most importantly, never tried to upsell me on anything I didn’t need. He took the time to explain what was needed and gave me honest, straightforward advice. He installed two new springs and two new garage door motors at my home, and he did an excellent job. He spent most of the day here making sure everything was installed properly and working perfectly. I really appreciated his attention to detail and the pride he took in his work. It’s refreshing to work with someone who is knowledgeable, honest, punctual, and genuinely cares about doing a great job. I would absolutely recommend Marc to anyone needing garage door work. He was excellent from start to finish!

  Connor did a great job evaluating and helping me to understand the workings of my double wide garage door. He explained clearly the why of the issues I had been having with my very old and heavy door. He listened and helped me understand the benefits of each model I was considering. It was because of his help explaining the significant information I needed and using examples to illustrate problems and solutions that I was secure in my final choice. He is terrific with sharing technical details and awesome at communication in general. Thank you for making a hard problem not so difficult.

  Our tech from Don's Garage Doors was polite and efficient. He knew what he was doing and was willing to share details of the spring and roller wheel replacement process. He was also on time and well equipped. I learned a lot. That said, beware they have exorbitant prices for labor and parts. I paid $1906 for installation of new springs and wheels. I strongly recommend getting three bids if the work you want is not emergency in nature. Take advantage of their low price evaluation fee. It will likely save you hundreds if not more.

  I, unfortunately, have not been impressed with Don's door purchase and installation services. I have used them for a repair, which I thought was reasonable, but I also purchased two new garage doors for them to install. The wait on the new doors was more than a month. Then, the day of installation, they called to say one of doors was not the right size, so we had to wait another month+ for the replacement door (no rush order was possible or offered). The doors were finally installed and when they came back to apply touch up paint, I noticed the doors did not have the same embossing (one a modern horizontal embossing and the other a wood grain look). The technician noted it and said they'd order the correct door. After some weeks, I called for an update and made sure my contact information on file was updated and correct. I was told someone would call me back with an update on the order and never heard back. I then called weeks after and asked to speak with a manager about the situation. After waiting for over 15 minutes, I was told one would call me back. Here, two weeks later, I've not received a general update nor a call from management. So, after paying thousands, I have mismatched doors and the touchup paint applied looks worse than whatever markings they attempted to address. Nobody will provide an update on the replacement door or take the time to call me back as promised, twice.

  I wish I had done more research before hiring Don’s Garage Doors. A few years ago, my garage door suddenly stopped working because a spring had broken. When the technician arrived, the first thing he asked me was, “What do you know about garage doors?” I honestly replied, “Nothing.” Looking back, I feel like that answer made me especially vulnerable. He presented me with three repair options, each significantly more expensive than the last. The middle option was around $3,000, and he also told me I needed a completely new garage door opener, even though my garage door system was only from 2017. I was shocked by the cost and trusted his recommendations because I assumed he was the expert. I couldn’t afford the new opener, so I declined it. Interestingly, he was still able to get my existing opener working, and it continued to operate for the next couple of years. Recently, my garage door failed again, so I called a different company for a second opinion. They explained that the springs installed during the previous repair were the wrong size, causing the door to be improperly balanced and placing approximately 25% more strain on the opener than necessary. They replaced the springs with the correct ones for a fraction of what I had previously paid. Another part of my experience that made me uncomfortable was being asked to leave a Google review and take a photo with the technician before he left. I was home alone and felt awkward and pressured to do it. I’m sharing my experience so others know the value of getting a second opinion, especially if you’re unfamiliar with garage door repairs. I wish I had asked more questions and compared estimates. If you’re not knowledgeable about garage doors, consider getting multiple quotes from reputable local companies before making an expensive decision.
