Would give 0 stars if we could. We closed on our Richmond American home in Sterling Ranch in October 2024. We paid $670,000. Richmond had it listed at over $700,000. Either way, this house is not built like a home in that price range, and dealing with this company has been one of the worst experiences of our lives. We were relocating to Colorado from out of state, so we couldn’t walk the house ourselves. We had to trust Richmond’s team. When we brought it up, nobody helped us. We got attitude instead of answers, and no one would take responsibility for the measurements. If you’re buying from another state and relying on the builder’s own people, that is exactly the kind of thing that should not happen, and exactly the kind of response you should not get. The build quality is bad. The walls in several rooms are warped so badly you can see the waves in them from across the room. They look like snakes. The floors are buckling in multiple spots throughout the house. The window jambs were installed at the wrong sizes, so buying curtains turned into a whole ordeal because nothing standard fits our windows. This is a brand new house. The people have been just as bad as the construction. Their superintendent, Tim Stark, was friendly and helpful right up until we signed. After closing, the first time we brought up a problem, he got loud with us. That shift told us everything about how this company treats you once they have your money. Then there’s the heating. Our entry level can’t hold heat in the winter. There’s a 7 to 9 degree difference between that floor and the rest of the house. We reported it on May 23, 2025, which was five months inside our one-year warranty. Richmond’s own warranty ticket from that day says they were “in the beginning stages of working with the HVAC engineer and installing a 2T electric unit in crawl.” Those are their words, in their system. In December 2025 they opened a second ticket and paid a third party to run an airflow test on our house. Our warranty rep, Madison Dippong-Rentfro, told us in writing she’d send us the report. She never did. Seven months went by. Then in July 2026 we were told none of it ever happened. That Richmond “never committed to making changes/upgrades to hvac equipment.” That there’s nothing wrong with our airflow. That the cold entry level is just a “design characteristic” and isn’t covered. All of that contradicts their own written records, created by their own employee. We asked to escalate to a supervisor and got ignored. We filed with their warranty administrator, RWC, and got a form letter denial six days later that didn’t address a single piece of evidence we sent. Fourteen months of being told it was being handled, and then they acted like the conversation never happened. Design, construction, move-in, warranty. Every stage of this has been the same story. They tell you what you want to hear until they don’t need anything from you, and then you’re on your own. We will never buy another Richmond American home. If you’re considering one, especially if you’re buying from out of state, please look hard at what you’re actually getting. We will never buy a Richmond home again and you shouldn't either!

Very poor quality homes. The attention to detail is non existent and the longer I live here the more things I find. Nails sticking out everywhere, cabinets drilled completely through, crooked walls, baseboards that don’t sit flush with the floor. All of the appliances that come with the house are the cheapest available and some have already broken and needed replacement. I could go on and on.

We filed a warranty claim for two windows that are getting moisture between the panes. Richmond sent out a technician from Prime Window Systems and he was here for a total of 4 minutes. We have the video on or ring camera. 4 minutes! He pushed on the glass and said they were fine. Never got a ladder out to check the exterior, these windows are on the second story. I’m guessing Richmond will just ride out the one year warranty and do nothing about it. Real classy, this seems to be a common theme with Richmond across their projects, check out other reviews. Our neighbors have also had a poor experience post closing. Buyer beware, poor quality tradesmen, if you can call them that, used to build their homes.

I live in a Richmond home. This is the second light I have replaced. One in the laundry room. One in the kitchen pantry. Neither had junction boxes. Just wires hanging out of the Sheetrock with fixtures also anchored in the Sheetrock. High quality craftsmanship here. Unsure how any of this passed inspection.
