- AAAdriane Adamstoday1.0Your driver is really awful, and cuts people off in traffic, blocking 2 lanes, just to cut somebody off. He could have gotten over earlier.
- BCBob Cook1 day ago5.0Fantastic experience from start to finish with replacement of three window wells. A very thorough estimate from Cody which included several options. Mike and crew did an outstanding job replacing the wells, which included hand digging out the old ones and setting the new ones. Thank you Egress Inc for a great job!!
- JAJessica Adkins6 days ago5.0We had a really great experience with Egress Inc! After pricing a view options, what sold us was their customer service AND price. Our house had old rusty egress covers and they helped us custom fit them 3 and they look amazing! 10/10 recommend!! Thank you
- BSBev SelbySep 18, 20265.0From beginning to end, Egress Inc. did a fantastic job installing our new window well and relandscaping the surrounding area. The entire team was professional, courteous, and prompt, and the main office kept us informed throughout the whole process. Every worker we met was friendly and respectful of our property. They completed the project beautifully and cleaned everything up so well that, when they left, you could hardly tell they had been there. We are extremely happy with the finished project and would definitely recommend Egress Inc.!
- CRCourtney RobertsonSep 2, 20265.0They did a huge project for us! They dug 2 egress windows and replaced all of our basement windows for us. They also applied to the historic board and got everything approved. Their guys showed up on time, got the work done, and the windows look beautiful. Also, Casey and JC were great and always kept us updated on the progress of our project. Happy we went with them for our project. Thank you eEgress Inc!
Frequently Asked Questions About Egress, Inc.
What is an egress window, and why is it important?
An egress window is a crucial safety feature designed to provide an emergency exit in case of fire or other hazards. These windows must adhere to specific size requirements set by the International Residential Building Code. They're essential for ensuring safe escape routes from basements and lower-level living spaces, potentially saving lives in emergency situations.
What are the benefits of installing egress windows in my home?
Installing egress windows offers multiple advantages for your home. They significantly improve safety by providing an additional escape route during emergencies. Additionally, these windows enhance the quality of lower-level spaces by increasing natural light and ventilation. From a financial perspective, egress windows can boost your home's value by ensuring compliance with building codes.
Are there specific building codes and regulations for egress windows and window wells?
Indeed, there are specific building codes and regulations governing egress windows and window wells. These codes stipulate minimum requirements for the size, placement, and well dimensions of egress windows. These regulations are in place to ensure adequate safety and accessibility in emergency situations, providing peace of mind for homeowners.
Where are egress windows required?
Egress windows are mandatory in all habitable spaces and rooms designated for sleeping. This requirement extends to newly added sleeping rooms in existing homes and finished basement living spaces. It's crucial to note that older homes with remodeled basements, bedrooms, recreation rooms, or offices lacking these windows can pose significant safety risks during emergencies, potentially becoming fire hazards without a viable escape route.
What are the requirements for an egress window?
Egress windows must meet specific criteria to ensure safety. They require a minimum net clear opening of 5.7 square feet, which refers to the actual free space available when the window is open. This opening must be large enough to allow quick escape for firefighters wearing gear. Additionally, the window must be operable from the inside without keys or tools. Window well covers, if installed, should be easily operable without tools or excessive effort.
Does Egress, Inc provide custom egress window solutions?
Absolutely. At Egress, Inc., we excel in providing custom egress window installations. Our solutions are meticulously tailored to meet the unique specifications and requirements of each individual home, ensuring both safety and aesthetic appeal.
What are the different types of egress windows available?
Egress windows come in various styles to suit different preferences and architectural needs. These include casement windows, sliders, tilt-and-turn windows, and double-hung windows. Our team at Egress, Inc. is dedicated to helping you select the most suitable option for your home, considering both safety requirements and aesthetic preferences.
Do egress windows require window wells?
Window wells are typically necessary when the bottom of an egress window is situated close to or below ground level. These wells serve important functions: they prevent soil and water from encroaching on the window area and facilitate effective water redirection by allowing for proper grading of the surrounding landscape.
What is a window well, and how does it work with egress windows?
A window well is an excavated area surrounding an egress window. It serves multiple purposes, including facilitating light, ventilation, and emergency access. Window wells act as a barrier against soil obstruction and provide a safe exit route when needed. They must meet specific dimensional requirements and, in deeper wells, include a permanently affixed ladder or steps for easy egress. The well should allow for full window opening and not obstruct the required dimensions.
Can Egress, Inc assist with both egress window installation and window well construction?
Certainly. Egress, Inc. offers a comprehensive service package that includes both egress window installation and window well construction. Our integrated approach ensures a seamless, code-compliant solution for your home, addressing all aspects of egress window requirements in one efficient service.
