The technician, Jalvin, was great! He was knowledgeable, helpful, and very thorough. There was absolutely no pressure to replace our old system. He did talk about Action’s membership program but again, no pressure. The only reason I only gave four stars is because of issues on the business side. My appointment was for 7:00 - 9:00. At 6:15 am, I got a text saying the technician was on his way along with a link to track him. The link showed him arriving in 9 minutes, so was scrambling to get dressed and finish breakfast. Action also sends texts fro two different number, which is not optimal. Other than that, great experience!

Recent repair review and look back: Initial purchase and installation experience was excellent with an informative and high competence team. Happy with the HVAC system for 10 years already, and our recent service request was handled in a similarly professional manner. A single component had an end of life failure and was quickly replaced. I highly recommend Action Air Conditioning and Heating.
Through Costco we asked for a quote to replace our aging Heating/AC system. We were contact by a technician from ACtion, Joseph. Who was very professional contacted us before the appointment confirming as well as lets us know his arrival time. He evaluated our existing system including duct work, registers and electrical (wiring, firebox, breakers).. Talked about pros and cons of switching from gas (furnace) to electric (heat pump) for heating. Excellent job very knowledgeable. Looking forward to see what his quote and numbers come out with.
We had a full AC system installed by this company less than a year ago for upwards of $12k. It failed three weeks ago (diagnosed as an airflow issue, filter replaced, system reset). It failed again with the exact same symptoms; new filter installed, system running but blowing warm air, outdoor unit not engaging.
When I called, I was told the earliest available appointment was four days away, with zero technicians available for the entire weekend. This during an active heat warning with highs above 90°. I have a toddler at home. I emailed the owner directly, who I'd spoken with positively after the install, and never received a response. I called the main line every morning and got the same answer each time: nothing available.
I understand things break. What's disappointing is a company that installed an expensive system less than a year ago having no weekend emergency coverage at all for a total no-cooling situation, and an owner who didn't respond to a direct, reasonable request for help. I'd think carefully about what support looks like after the sale before choosing this company.
We had Action Air in San Marcos install a new HVAC system and we pay for their maintenance plan.
I scheduled my summer maintenance appointment weeks in advance and took the morning off work specifically for the appointment. The appointment was confirmed through their text messaging system the day before.
Then, in the middle of my scheduled appointment window, I received a voicemail from Jorge stating they didn’t have any available maintenance appointments until September. September was 43 days away! Jorge said, “…giving you a shout, uh, regarding your appointment for today. Um, we actually don’t have uh, room for maintenances right now until September.”
When I called the office, the employee I spoke with explained that when she arrived at work that morning, her manager informed the staff that all maintenance appointments had to be rescheduled. Apparently, the decision to cancel my confirmed appointment was made the very morning it was supposed to take place.
The employee was polite and apologetic. When I asked to speak with the manager, I was told they were very busy but would call me back when they had time. Unsurprisingly, that call never came.
The issue isn’t that schedules occasionally change. The issue is that Action Air showed a complete lack of respect for my time. They were clearly not staffed to provide the services it had already scheduled. If a company sells maintenance plans, it should have the personnel and operational capacity to honor those appointments. Instead, I was told the next available maintenance appointment was 43 days later. That’s unacceptable and not the level of service I expect from a company that installed my HVAC system and continues to charge for a maintenance plan.
