First called Miramar store. Asked receptionist about me needing an approximately 20”x 66”, pre-hung door made for an HVAC closet. Transferred to Millworker. Person who answered told me annoyed, “Nah, we don’t do that!” So I called Sports Arena store. Same explanation to its receptionist. This time told enthusiastically, “Oh yes, George in Millwork can do that!” So, I went to store. Same explanation to person at counter. Told to go to far back corner or lumber yard. Only younger man there, but he was not George. Same explanation, although. But he said to wait for George. While talking to younger man, his breath smelled of a fruity alcoholic drink. Then, older man shows up. He proceeds to walk right by both of us, head down, ignoring us. Younger man does not say anything. So I finally ask older man if he is George. He looks up and says, “Yah”. I introduce myself. Nothing from George, no “Nice to meet you” or “How can I help you”. Gave same explanation. George annoying tells me I’m in the wrong place and starts to walk me back through the lumber yard to the store. I said that the situation is confusing and frustrating. So, George’s unprofessional response was to angrily say, “You’re on your own!” and left me. In store, asked for manager. But person not in. They weren’t sure who was acting manager, and maybe person was on lunch break. But yard manager, Dave, happened to be there. Same explanation. He then took me to Chris in Doors & Windows. Chris helped. Older woman kindly offered me water while I was working with Chris. First kind jester. I ordered and paid for HVAC door. So, if you doing more than regular shopping, overall employees do not seem knowledgeable, don’t know who is there, don’t know who does what, reluctant to help, and do not take accountability for their lack of customer service, no apologies. I left exhausted and disappointed, but with a cold bottle of water!

Shout out to Nate Barrett in Contractor Services. I've been a Contractor for over 20 years in Coronado and have never had such great service. Nate's follow through is unprecedented in my experience. Nate goes the extra mile, always answers his phone and is constantly trying to save me time and money. He really understands how to work with GCs. I'm so grateful he's on the Southbay team and will continue to use him on all of my projects! Cara Clancy
