Hayward acquired the Pacific Grove location in a trade with Granite Rock Construction. Homer Hayward won a card game with Granite Rock’s owner, and the winner got to choose between two sites, Pacific Grove and Seaside. Homer picked Pacific Grove, with its sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. From Pacific Grove, Hayward is able to quickly deliver to Pebble Beach, Carmel, Carmel Valley and Big Sur.
