I had an extremely disappointing experience with Safe USA while they were performing crack-seal work on my street in Ontario. Whether they were hired directly by the City of Ontario or subcontracted by another company, the level of professionalism displayed by this crew was completely unacceptable.
As the crew approached the front of my home, debris and rocks were sprayed all over my driveway and onto my vehicle. I noticed large rocks had traveled all the way to my garage door, which brought my attention to my vehicle. When I looked closer, I found it covered in dirt, debris, and rocks of various sizes. As I inspected my vehicle further, I also discovered scratches and paint chips on the front end that were not present before the work began.
A crew member approached me and said they would clean the driveway. I explained that my main concern was not the driveway—it was my vehicle. Instead of acknowledging my concern, he immediately insisted that they had not caused any damage and claimed any damage was already there. I was extremely upset by that response. How could he possibly know the condition of my vehicle before arriving at my home?
I then spoke with the supervisor, hoping for a more professional response. Unfortunately, he was just as dismissive. Rather than listening or attempting to resolve the issue, he argued with me and repeatedly insisted they were not responsible for any damage.
As we were both taking photos of the debris and rocks, he pointed his camera directly at me. I told him I did not consent to being photographed while standing on my own property. His response was, "Then get out of my way." He later continued recording me from inside his work vehicle. This was extremely disrespectful and inappropriate, especially considering he and his crew were on my property.
Wanting to report the incident, I called the phone number displayed on the company truck. The person who answered abruptly said, "Hello," in a rude and dismissive tone, without identifying himself or the company. Thinking I may have dialed the wrong number, I asked who I was speaking with. Instead of identifying himself or the business, he responded, "Well, you called me, so you address yourself." After I asked if I had reached Safe USA, he replied, "Yeah, it is. Don't call people asking them to identify themselves when you're the one calling." At that point, it became clear that professionalism and basic customer service were not a priority.
It also appeared that he had already been informed that I might be calling, which could explain why he was immediately hostile and dismissive before I had even explained the reason for my call.
Mistakes can happen on job sites. What made this experience so unacceptable was the complete lack of accountability, poor customer service, argumentative behavior, and disrespect shown by multiple employees, including the supervisor and the person who answered the company phone. Had they simply acknowledged my concerns and treated me with respect, the situation could have been handled very differently.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend doing business with Safe USA. If this is how they treat homeowners and respond to legitimate concerns, I have serious concerns about their professionalism and customer service. I also hope the City of Ontario and any contractors who hire Safe USA take complaints like this seriously and hold them to a higher standard.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.
