  I called Prodigy to replace a water shutoff valve for my refrigerator. When I asked for a ballpark price, I was told they needed to come onsite to inspect the situation before they could provide an estimate. That seemed reasonable. Once they arrived, however, I was quoted a price that was roughly twice what I expected. The technician referenced a price/specification list, which makes me question why they couldn't have provided at least a general estimate over the phone, with the usual disclaimer that the final price could vary depending on the actual situation. I take responsibility for agreeing to the work instead of declining and getting another quote, but I was uncomfortable with the way the pricing was handled. It left me feeling that I wasn't given enough information to make an informed decision before the technician arrived. The actual job took less than two hours, and I felt the final price was extremely high for the work performed. I would not use Prodigy again for two reasons: Lack of pricing transparency and what I consider a poor business practice. Extremely expensive pricing compared with what I expected for this type of repair.

  I've waited over 6 months to post this review... TLDR: I fixed it myself and saved $25000. I called Prodigy out to my home to help unclog a backed-up bathtub & shower drain. The technician spent an hour "trying" to unclog my drain. He then insisted a second team member needed to come out to my home to assist. Once the second tech arrived the first tech went under my home to start looking at my pipes. After about 30 minutes the tech comes out from under my home and they both go out to their truck for another 30 minutes. They then both came back into my home and told me that they couldn't fix my problem and that we would have to replace my bathrooms plumbing. They provided 3 quotes to me(1-replace the shower/bath plumbing for $6,000, 2-replace both bathrooms plumbing for $12,000, and 3- replace my entire homes plumbing for $25,000). The techs tried to pressure me by saying that no company would be able to fix the problem without replacing the plumbing. I didn't believe them and took to the internet. One cup of baking soda, and one cup of vinegar down the drain and a pot of boiling water and my problem was resolved, drain was unclogged and drains smoothly now. I waited 6 months to post this review because I wanted to make sure that my solution worked and the drain did not clog again.
