  My husband and I had the pleasure of working with EF Block owner, Dan Chanard, during the construction of our first home. From start to finish, Dan was incredibly helpful, transparent, and supportive throughout the entire process. As first-time builders, my husband and I truly appreciated his guidance and willingness to answer any questions we had. Dan and his wife, Sue were always available and went above and beyond by communicating with other contractors when needed. Since not everyone is familiar with ICF construction, Dan made the process easier by providing helpful videos and personally explaining how the system works. One of the standout benefits of EF Block’s ICF system is how quickly it goes up during construction. From our firsthand experience, it has also proven to be extremely energy efficient. We were so impressed with the product and the level of professionalism that we are now using the same ICF blocks for our second project—a duplex. I feel very confident in both the product and in Dan’s expertise. I know he will always guide us in the right direction.

  Great product. Love the use of recycled content and engagement of incarcerated individuals for manufacturing as well as the extremely high insulation value.

  I had an excellent experience using EF Block's products to build our lake house in Alabama. I did a lot of research before buying from EF Block. EF Block offered the best prices, gives you an extra foot on each block (5 feet rather than 4 feet in length) and a size measured in feet and inches. Dan and Sue were a pleasure to work with. My schedule slipped greatly as things took much longer than expected. Sue kept in touch and moved the deliveries multiple times without complaint or pressure. I'm now in the process of installing the top plates in preparation for the installation of the trusses. There are a couple lessons I learned that I would like to pass along if you are building in an area that hasn't seen this type of construction before (like rural Alabama). First, when you tell the concrete company how much slump you need in your grout, don't let them argue with you. We had two concrete suppliers for the grout. The pour went much smoother when the concrete delivery guy said "yes sir!" when I told him I wanted a slump of 8 to 10 inches. Second, if the pump company does not have a 1.5" hose (a stinger) available to pump the concrete, be sure to tell them to SLOW DOWN the pump flow rate. We had a couple blow outs in hogged out blocks: one in a lintel and another where I had to use concrete anchors for the electric service entrance box. Overall, this was an excellent experience that will result in a very energy efficient home that will be very low maintenance. This is my retirement project that I hope my family will enjoy for generations.

  I built my EF Block house in 2018. The service and support we received while building was outstanding. They were always ready to help with guidance and instructions. Living in the house has been comfortable and pleasant. We have two AC units, one for the bedrooms and one for the common areas. Recently, the common area AC went out. We were able stay in the house and didn't have to rent any temporary cooling equipment while the AC was being repaired, 7 days (a complicated system with special requriements and parts). The last house we had where that happened reached 95 degrees, unbearable! The house is also quiet. We live in a rural area with lots of livestock, coyotes, and chickens. We are rarely able to hear them. Finally, we know how strong the house is and even during the worst storms we know we are safe.
