Terrible experience from the very first interaction. They refused to provide even general pricing information before scheduling a visit, making it impossible to know whether the repair would fit within my budget. Once they came out, the quoted price was far above what I later found to be the industry standard. To make matters worse, about a week later I received an unsolicited sales call from them trying to sell me a water treatment system. I clearly stated that I am on the Do Not Call list and would be reporting the call, but the representative showed no concern whatsoever. Based on my experience, this is not a reputable company and I would not recommend them.

This has been the absolute worst experience I’ve ever had with a company. I wish I would have looked at all the negative reviews or had a second opinion before continuing with this company. They used aggressive scare tactics to scare me into buying a garage door and opener when I only made an appointment to replace the springs. After the fact, another company told me I probably didn’t need all that and they just took advantage of me. He gave me a quote for what they would’ve charged for the exact same door and even put a custom spring on it to match the cycle count and it was more than $4000 cheaper. Even after overpaying for something I didn’t need, that wasn’t the end of the bad experience. The technician made me feel very uncomfortable. He kept pushing me to give him the code to my garage door when he was installing it. I said I wanted to enter it myself in private and I wasn’t comfortable with that and he was offended. Then he used my bathroom and made me feel uncomfortable by how he was looking around my house. Then as he was leaving, he walked to my beverage refrigerator, bent down to look inside and asked for a Dr Pepper. I would’ve been happy to give him a drink, but the way that he went about it was very unsettling and unprofessional. I told him I needed a part of the garage door so that I could match the paint because the homeowners association requires specific colors. At the end, he said he forgot to save a piece of the door and that he had already disposed of it. Needless to say that created a huge problem for me! When he was done, he left a huge mess of broken springs, staples and chunks of white stuff all over the place for me to clean up. He installed new trim over old trim, which from what I understand is not the standard, it’s simply the lazy way to do it. He put caulking all over the trim and even managed to get it on the stucco of my house. When I said I wasn’t happy with how it looked because the caulking was all lumpy, he treated me like I was an idiot and said that it would look fine once it was painted, as if all the lumps would magically disappear when putting paint over it. When you call them, it takes over 30 minutes of being on hold before you get to someone. When a a manager came out to look at it, he stood there in disbelief and asked what the heck did he do? After he took pictures with his iPad, he asked if he could take pictures with his personal phone so he could show everybody how bad it was. Wow, I have no words for that. I contacted the register of contractors who told me I could file a complaint and I had an independent contractor look at the job. He told me it was substandard workmanship. He discovered the door wasn’t balanced correctly and it had a bad bearing. To make a very long story short they had to come out four additional times in order to fix it. One technician broke the trim and pulled it way from the stucco and another one put a 7-8 inch cut in the trim. Even after everything has been “fixed”, I would not say that it is up to the price I paid, as all the nails are crooked. Initially, the supervisor said that she would give me a $300 refund. Seriously?! A 3% discount would be something you would do as a gesture of goodwill if you did nothing wrong. They finally agreed to give me a 25% discount, although I had to fight tooth and nail to get that. Although it has been two weeks and I still have yet to see anything, so who knows if I will even get that. And to be honest, I feel I deserve more than that. So if you’re wanting to be pushed into buying something you don’t need by aggressive scare tactics, to sell you a hugely overpriced product, only to do subpar workmanship, all while making you feel extremely uncomfortable, then leaving a huge mess for you to clean up and then having your time wasted because you need to call to complain and waste more time so they can come back multiple times to fix it, then this is your company. Otherwise, I would suggest closing your eyes and randomly picking a company then roll the dice. Odds are you would do better with anyone else!

Offered a "Tune up". Completed but the garage door would not close or open without trying several times. Offered $2100 in repairs and upgrades but No solution was found with the issue. Repairman made adjustments and deluged me with options giving a big assessment of all the things that were wrong. But could not pinpoint the problem. When he left the door closed but next rty it had same problem. Man wanted to change the opener a. I said not yet. He then said it was the safety eyes. He quoted me $386 for replacement eyes. I bought them for $16.00 online!!!!!!! I am disappointed to say the least with A-1 Garage door.

Ramon Noriega from A1 Garage Door Service was wonderful to work with. Our garage door springs broke, and he came out quickly, explained everything clearly, and was very patient while going over our options. He repaired the springs, handled additional repairs, and installed a new garage door motor/opener for us. Even though we couldn’t afford to do every repair right now, he worked with us and helped us prioritize what was most important and safest first. Ramon was professional, respectful, honest, and never made us feel pressured. He took the time to answer questions and made sure everything was working properly before he left. We really appreciated his kindness and hard work, and we definitely plan to call A1 again in the future when we’re ready to complete the remaining repairs. Highly recommend!

Derrick was simply great, professional, up front, he knew exactly what was needed to get our garage door working again and working well. And personally very reassuring. We knew we had picked the right company to go with. The only disconcerting thing was that other parts besides the springs and cables were needed and that increased the cost of the repair by almost $900 (a bit hard when you're seniors on a very fixed income). We needed newer hinges, ball joints, etcetera as well as the cost for the new springs and the cables that had snapped. Still we have lifetime springs, new cables, hinges, rollers - plus A1's peace of mind maintenance plan.
