Back in June the tenant in my rental house informed me that the water heater stopped working and it had a leak. My home warranty company was useless, telling me to find a plumbing contractor myself and have them contact the home warranty for authorization once they’d diagnosed the problem. Guess what, NONE of the 4 plumbers that I reached out to in Flagstaff work with home warranty companies due to the hassles associated with them. I was fortunate to get my home warranty to agree to reimburse me after I had the licensed contractor do the repairs. I thank my lucky stars to have finally contacted Vanessa at Intermountain!! The weekend was approaching and no one had been sounding like they could get out to the house until the following week! Vanessa was able to get her technician who was scheduled in the area, to stop by the next day and take a look. We thought it was going to require a new water heater initially by my tenants description but the technician took a look, went out to buy a couple of parts and fixed the leak and the water heater that same afternoon. What a relief!! My tenant didn’t have to go without hot water for 4 days…can you imagine?! Fast forward 2 months and home warranty hasn’t reimbursed me or responded..it turns out that I sent the invoice to the representative that had initially taken my call and she didn’t do anything with it so it never got filed..I needed to send “proof of payment” as well. Vanessa again to the rescue..when I called, she new who I was and pulled up my paperwork immediately and emailed within seconds. Icing on the cake: She is so professional and SO kind. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND INTERMOUNTAIN PLUMBING & MECHANICAL and will call on them again if needed.

Friday morning had a new gas line installed for a range as contracted. Over night, the temperatures outside dropped and a winter storm came in. The next morning, the house was a frosty 50 degrees because the plumbers did not restart our gas appliances, including the furnace. We called the office and left messages with the plumbers emergency number beginning at 7:30 am. We called all day on Saturday but no one called us back. Because the gas was still on, the valves were left open, and the pilot lights not restarted, we checked with the gas company and fire department for guidance. The fire department assured us it was safe, no leaks. But the Unisource tech didn't like the gas line running to our furnace. A line that had been connected in the 1970s! He Red tagged, locked out, our gas Saturday morning. Now we had no heat AGAIN and no hot water and no response from the plumber. We had to use our electric oven to try to keep warm. We tried to do the right thing and seemed to be punished for it. We finally found an alternate phone number for the plumber at 8:40 pm and were able reach a representative, not in the plumbing service. Once we reached a person at Intermountain, Chris, the owner, called us and assured us that things would be in motion to correct the problems. Sunday afternoon a plumber did check in with us, but the city had to do an inspection before Unisource would turn back on the gas. Early Monday morning the plumbers arrived to complete the work as needed. Chris, the owner, also came out to monitor the work being done. By the afternoon the plumbers got everything fixed and a city inspector to ok the work. Chris stayed the entire time, through the work and the City inspection. The gas company turned on the gas and the plumbers came back to make sure all of the gas appliances were back on. This could have been a five-star review if everything had been completed properly on Friday. But the lapses, delays, and failure to respond is reflected in the lower score. We have to say that once we reached someone at Intermountain Plumbing (and heating) Chris was able to get everything corrected very quickly. We appreciate that he took a personal interest and took his time to be at our home to make sure our problems were resolved. He was able to assign a technician and have the City inspector come out for an emergency inspection very quickly! He assured us that he had personally followed up with the original technician. He was also taking steps to remedy the failure of their emergency call service. We expect plumbing professionals to be the experts and not leave work that Unisource would red-tag. We expect that calling an emergency service would have a timely response to at least acknowledge our calls. We think Unisource was irresponsible and heartless to turn off our heat for three days during a snowstorm. We called for guidance on pilot lights but had no permit documentation and couldn't get proof from Intermountain Plumbing.
