  A truly wonderful experience with Scott’s Plumbing and Logan! We were so impressed with Logan from the moment we began to engage at the door. He came prepared to evaluate our plumbing issue, and it was immediately clear that he was knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely interested in helping us. He carefully listened to our concerns and assured us he was there to address our plumbing needs. Then, with a big smile, Logan told us, “I actually have good news for you ladies!” Our PSI was within normal limits. After being concerned about our plumbing, hearing those words was such a relief! What meant the most to us was Logan’s honesty. He could have easily made the situation seem worse than it was, but instead, he gave us the truth and explained everything clearly. That kind of integrity and customer service is hard to find these days. Logan was not only knowledgeable and professional, but also personable, patient, and reassuring. He turned what could have been a stressful experience into a genuinely pleasant one. Thank you, Logan, for taking such great care of us!   ★☆☆☆☆ Deceptive Car-Sales Tactics Dressed Up as Plumbing I am outraged by my experience with Scott Plumbing. This felt less like dealing with plumbers and more like dealing with commission-based car salespeople. The technician worked for approximately 70 minutes. I was present and observed the work: • Less than 30 minutes under the house applying glue to a PVC fitting with a small drip • Approximately 10 minutes replacing each of two easily accessible, screw-on hose faucets • Approximately 10 minutes clearing hair from a sink stopper There was no major excavation, difficult access, or complicated repair. Nevertheless, I was charged $1,121.66: • Sewer/drain main line repair: $500 The invoice listed quantity 2 and stated, “Quantity is NOT man-hours; just incremental value.” The handwritten breakdown was $250 × 2. The technician was under the house less than 30 minutes. • Clear drain: $140 The invoice said “handheld auger,” but the technician later told me no auger was needed—the issue was hair in the stopper. • Hose faucet replacement: $242 • Hose faucet replacement: $174 • Parts: $65.66 The faucets were described as “easy access” and appear to cost approximately $21 each based on my independent price check. I paid more than $1,100 for a simple PVC glue repair, two basic brass hose faucets, and clearing hair from a sink stopper. The owner told me the technicians use a price book and are paid on commission. Yet there was no hourly rate, no price disclosed for each task, no material breakdown, and no clear explanation of taxes. I was given a total and expected to sign. The estimate and disclosures were presented on a tablet waved in front of me outdoors in direct sunlight. The small gray print was unreadable; the signature box was the only part I could readily see. I was not given a fair opportunity to read or understand what I was signing. When I challenged the charge and requested transparency, the owner wrote: • “Our normal estimates and invoices do not show breakdowns, just totals.” • “There is not a rule or mandatory state guideline that line items be shown in any particular manner.” • “This matter is closed regarding your concerns.” • “Our technician presented you with his cost to do the work and you approved it on site.” The repeated response was essentially, “You signed it.” That is not an explanation of an excessive charge or an example of fair dealing. I offered $421 as a reasonable resolution—approximately $292 for 70 minutes of labor at $250 per hour, plus a reasonable service-call charge and the cost of the faucets—and requested a $700 refund. They refused and offered only a 12% discount and future service. I left feeling misled and taken advantage of. Do not sign a tablet being waved in front of you. Demand every task price, material price, and the meaning of the total in readable writing before authorizing work. I would not use Scott Plumbing again.
