  Our experience with DRB (formerly Brightland in our neighborhood) has unfortunately been a nightmare. We’ve had ongoing electrical issues since moving in. Their warranty electrician (IES) came out four separate times, and each visit resulted in a quick temporary fix rather than addressing the underlying problem. We eventually hired an independent electrician (not through their warranty) who informed us that the home was built using the cheapest electrical materials possible. The honest electrician we hired ourselves fixed what the IES electrician couldn’t figure out those four times within an hour. We repeatedly emailed DRB with the details and requested repairs, but the problems were not properly addressed—leaving us out of pocket to finally get it fixed correctly. We also had an inspection completed before our one-year warranty expired. Multiple issues were noted, but the most serious was a leak above our child’s room. Their team attempted a temporary patch using cheap materials, and when it began leaking again, we were told they would not return because the first visit was done “as a favor .” Only after the inspection report was sent did the leak finally get repaired properly. This has been extremely stressful and costly as homeowners. Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend doing thorough research before purchasing from DRB / Brightland. Also, our bathroom tile is split down the middle and they wont fix because the tile isn’t covered until warranty apparently. READ all warranty coverage until detail.

  Educate yourself on the home buying process. Gehan will try to get you through closing as fast as possible through their preferred lender. DO NOT sign or close on the home without having all repairs or corrections made to the house. After closing getting Gehan, Clayton, or upper management to correct issues with the home will be a nightmare. You have been warned.
