  We have become a fan of Chesmar. After 20 years in our previous place, we discovered them when we started looking to move to the Conroe area. Watching our home be built, I was impressed with the quality of construction. Maybe some was from improved codes through the years, but they seemed to put design intentionality and extra effort into many things. I’m confident I have a very well built house. There was nothing major in our final inspection - like having to fix roof bracing which we have experienced on past houses. Communication throughout the process was excellent too. Once in we quickly noticed three big differences: - just how generous they were with big windows throughout the house in the design. - there is an electrical plug anywhere you might need one, and then some - even in the garage - this house is so much quieter, even with all the bigger windows - the difference is very noticeable in big thunderstorms It’s August and we have been in for over 6 months. Our energy bills really are lower, and the house easily stays at comfortable temperatures through the day - even with our 10-12 foot ceilings. Warranty support has been good - it just takes a couple of weeks to get things resolved. My only criticism is I wish they would put the same effort into their landscape design. The beds are nice, but not much variation and variety in the plant selections. The other builder in our section wins those points.

  My construction manager, Donnell Martin was amazing to work with. This was first time to build and he was very patient and took the time to walk me through all the steps. Also Donnell has been very responsive to fix any post move in issues and he gets 5 stars. Chesmar back office should have disclosed the irrigation permitting issues sooner so I could have adjusted my lot selection. That has been very frustrating with no communication to date.

  DO NOT buy or build a Chesmar Home. They are unprofessional, and will not fix issues that are within your contract. We built a home in Harper’s Preserve and they were responsible for landscaping. They put in 2 dead trees and we brought this up several times and put in ticket claims. Not only did the contractor say he lied about coming by to see it, they will just give you a huge run-around excuse and not fix their poor quality of work. We are now faced with paying over $1,000 for trees as they are neglecting their responsibilities, which should be their tagline. Walls are crooked in our house, busted water line was leaking before we moved in - we had to fix, poor paint job throughout the house, poor quality cabinets, and horrible glued door frames. As they will tell you, “that’s how it came from the manufacturer.” Do not purchase or build. You will be left with many expenses as they do not problem solve for their customers. Contractor will tell you one thing, supervisor will give an excuse and corporate doesn’t care, you are just another unhappy number to them. Buyer beware!

  House took 8 months build...pressured into closing with no appliances and walk through issues. Terrible service and lots of lying and double talk. 4th house to have built, 1st by this builder will never recommend them.
