We scheduled a preventative maintenance visit for our HVAC system because the primary drain line was clogged and the secondary/back-up drain had started dripping water. This should have been a very simple drain line flush. Unfortunately, our experience with this company was disappointing from start to finish.
The technician, Alex Nelson, arrived late and outside the original appointment window provided. During the visit he asked several personal questions about how long we had lived in the house and the remodeling currently happening in our kitchen. While that initially seemed harmless, the appointment quickly shifted away from fixing the actual issue and toward trying to sell us additional work.
After inspecting the unit, Alex immediately began pointing out “major problems” with our older HVAC system, despite the fact that the system has worked perfectly since we moved in and has passed prior inspections without issue. He claimed the heating portion was rusted and could cause carbon monoxide exposure. We explained that we have brand-new smoke and carbon monoxide detectors installed throughout the home and had zero issues all winter while regularly using the heater in the mornings. Rather than addressing the simple clogged drain line, the conversation continued to focus on expensive potential problems.
He then showed us a few photos on his phone, including the drain pan with standing water—which we already knew was due to the clog—and a blurry picture of the drain lines. He stated that one flexible drain pipe was “too old” and that he did not feel comfortable removing it to flush the line, even after we told him we would waive responsibility if any water spilled. He claimed the company would not allow it. Instead, he recommended rerouting the drain line and installing a new condensation pump for $1,080.
At that point, it became obvious we needed a second opinion because all signs pointed to this being a simple clog. Before leaving, he mentioned needing tape from his van, which is when we discovered he had drilled a hole into our ventwork to inspect inside. The vents/ducts are brand new and were installed right before we purchased the house.
After he left, we used a shop vacuum ourselves to remove the water from the drain pan and suction out both the primary and secondary drain lines with absolutely no issue. The supposedly “too old” flexible pipe was still very pliable, removed easily, and reinstalled without any problem. Since doing this ourselves, there has been no more dripping whatsoever.
Overall, this experience felt far more like a sales appointment than a preventative maintenance visit. It was frustrating to set up a service call only to have a simple issue exaggerated into a costly repair recommendation. Based on our experience, it seems this technician (Alex Nelson) may be working heavily on commission and was more interested in upselling unnecessary work than resolving the actual problem.

Alex Nelson and Frank (don't know his last name)
Both very respectful and honest.
Alex did maintenance on our HVAC unit and walked us through some things that were happening in the air intake. He found mold that was growing and allowed my husband to record it and show me.
Frank was great too, gave us great advice on how to extend the life of our water heater. We asked about a water softner and Frank explained the benefits of having one. No pressure from either gentleman to upsell or install, only recommendations.
Appreciate both of them taking time to talk with us and explain everything.

I needed preventive maintenance done on my HVAC system. I was surprised to see a Sunday appointment. Christian came out and arrived earlier than expected.
After performing the work, he made recommendations that could help prolong the life of my HVAC system. He provided the quote and sold me on the need to get it done. In a short period of time, I felt like Christian was being truthful. He went to get some equipment and returned to my house and completed the work.
He provided a detail explanation of his work. He went a step further and provided before and after pictures. I feel confident that Goettl had my best interest in mind. I was in search of a company that I could trust to service my HVAC for the foreseeable future. I strongly feel they are the one. Thanks

After I spoke with the manager he sent another technician out because the first kinda gave me really expensive prices and didn’t really check the entire AC system. I didn’t feel too comfortable with the first because he was talking like $20,000 and recommended replacing the AC system. And I just hate when they try to scare you and exaggerate the problem. Brandon the second technician that did actual work on the AC was a lot more helpful and seemed more honest and gave me more options as well. The entire time I felt super comfortable with him and felt like I could trust the service because he was calm and friendly and that really goes a long way when you’re a single woman and know nothing about this type of stuff because it does tend to feel overwhelming and stressful and scary. But Brandon did really good work and would feel comfortable with him doing work for any future maintenance. Hopefully I won’t have to do anything in the near future.

I recently had some health problems that has drastically changed my life. My wife and I pulled in to our garage after a doctor visit to find water all over the garage floor. What do we do? Who do we call for help. We decided to call Goettl. We see their trucks on the road so we called. A very ipleasnt person answered the phone.and listen to me explain our situation. Talked with me about a date and time they could come and they scheduled the appointment. We seen the very familiar blue truck pull up. And a man quickly got out of the truck and walked up. . That time from placing the call to them showing up is very nerve racking. Will they be on time. Will they be able to identify the problem. How long will it take to fix the problem? A knock at the door and when I answered the door.the tech introduced himself as Nathan. I asked him to come in.and he covered his shoes with blue covers for his shoes. He was a kind man. Very polite. I showed him to the garage where I had see the water. He looked toward my water softener and water heater which are all close to each other. began looking at the softener-drain. He asked a few other questions just to get more of an idea of the problem. We talked about my washing machine drain-and if it had ever backed up?I replied no. He continued looking at things achecking the function of the softener. Water had also damaged the wall behind the softener. He was being very thorough. He identified the problem as itbeing the softener. Gave a suggestion and presented a price to make this repair and then went to his truck. With one trip to his truck Nathan came back with part and his tools to do the job. I agreed and he got to work.he replaced a part to the drain and began testing it. Satisfied that he had corrected the problem. Nathan was done. There trucks are obviously well stocked-as Nathan did not have to leave the home to go get the parts store.he need to do the job. I would use goettlagain and would recommend Goettl to anyone and would suggest you ask for Nathan.
