  When you have a foster in the house and an Aussie who thinks he needs to protect those fosters, you crate them and lock them in a room so people coming to service your water softener can do their job without the interruption of your dogs. James from Alamo Water softeners shared that he loves dogs and I could let them out. I waited for him to finish before letting our foster Ranger interact with him. I’m so proud of how Ranger quickly was good with a stranger and James went above and beyond in loving on both Ranger and Ruger.

  I’ve been a customer of Alamo Water Softeners for about four years now, and they continue to impress me every time. I originally hired them to install a water softener and reverse osmosis system, and they did such a great job that I didn’t hesitate to call them again when our water heater went out. Jose and his team came out to install a new tankless water heater, and they were incredibly helpful and efficient throughout the entire process. Everything was done professionally and in a timely manner. The next day, we noticed that not all sinks and showers were getting hot water. I called them back, and Andy came out to take a look. He was extremely knowledgeable, quickly identified the issue, and made sure everything was working perfectly before he left. Now everything runs smoothly, and I can enjoy hot showers instantly! It’s rare to find a company that stands by their work and provides such excellent customer service even after the job is done. Highly recommend Alamo Water Softeners to anyone looking for reliable and professional service!

  UPDATE 4/24/26: I definitely will give credit where credit is due. The night of the original service, David, the vice president of the company attempted to reach out. When I spoke to him the next day, he genuinely apologized and offered to come out personally, the same day, to see if he could provide a better experience. David showed up on time, examined my softner, explained to me step by step what was wrong and repaired it. David also informed me he has used this mishap as an opportunity to retrain his staff, focusing on the customer and to definitely not be a sales focused company. I definitely believe one negative interaction should not taint the entire image of a company. From the follow-up experience, I believe they do care about their customers and I will definitwky reach out to them again in the future. Original post 4/23/26 Requested a service call from Alamo for our water softener because they were the name on the softener. Some water was draining from the softner when it was not regenerating. Alamo sent someone same day (yay!); it was purely a sales pitch (BOO). The person sent DID NOT EVEN LOOK AT THE SOFTNER! He immediately went into selling. First, a wifi enabled water shutoff device installed at the meter for our home safety, then of course a full system replacement. He threw in some small statements about repair and recharging after I asked, but definitely pushed a full system replacement. I took time off work for a sales pitch!! I feel like this was something that could've been done over the phone when I called. Hey, we know exactly what's wrong! No need to send anyone and waste your time! So disappointed.

  We just purchased a whole house water filtration/softener system. From the sale of the system with Joel, to the installation with Trevon and all of the guys who helped (I did not get all of their names), the process was seemless. They were all very professional and skilled and they handled our job like they were working on their own home. I would highly recommend Alamo. We looked at all of the competition and we are very happy we decided to go with Alamo.

  As a small local real estate developer and property manager, when I was in the market for a water softener system, I chose to go with Alamo Water Softeners (AWS). Unfortunately, I have had nothing but problems with our system and AWS over the past few years. This system has flooded our basement on three separate occasions due to faulty parts and installation. Most recently, the resin tank imploded and spewed resin balls down our fire riser drain. The technician who originally came to assess the situation blamed it on a few faulty part that were out of warranty and generated an $189 invoice for the service call. I got a second opinion and learned that the AWS technician’s assessment was incorrect and took it up with AWS customer service who gave me the run around. When my attempts to work with AWS customer service went nowhere, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau which finally got their attention. They sent out their lead plumbing technician, Andy, who was very professional and determined the tank failed due to a manufacturer’s defect and agreed to replace the tank. I ultimately consulted with my plumber and my general contractor who, in turn, sent out his plumbing and utility subcontractors to assess the matter, all of whom determined that AWS made significant plumbing errors when installing our system including stepping down the diameter of the pipes from the tank to the drain which caused increased pressure to the system, failing to seat the resin tank properly to the water lines, and routing the softener system into a dedicated fire sprinkler system drain which was in violation of city fire code. I have since spent $1895 to correct the plumbing errors caused by AWS. Attempts to contact them by phone over the past few months have been unsuccessful and they have essentially abandoned us and have refused to deal with the mess they created and complete the repairs needed. I am extremely disappointed in AWS and will never use them again or recommend them to anyone. My general contractor, who is a prominent builder here in San Antonio and has used AWS on several projects in the past, has also removed AWS from his preferred contractor list. Buyer beware!
