- ANAnna NobleJan 30, 20254.0Fire testing and inspections have taken place at my complex for the last 2 days. I have been living here for 3 years and never have I ever had a fire company let the alarm ring throughout the entire building and complex for 8 hours straight. Testing is meant to be 2-3 rings per unit to ensure the alarm is sounding properly but it is COMPLETELY unnecessary to have the alarm ringing for 2 minutes at a time, every other minute for 8 hours straight. I don’t know if they had new employees this year or if it was just not being done properly but there is NO reason the alarm should be rang consistently with almost no breaks for 8 hours. These are peoples homes you are inspecting and it is absolutely insane to me that this company would allow nearly 8 hours of uninterrupted ringing throughout the entire building. My leasing office apologized profusely to residents specifying that on the second day the alarm would not be sounding the entire day and that was not typical or normal. The fire Marshall and local fire department both agreed this is not how testing should be formatted and that things were not done properly or in compliance with standards. I’m aware we need to sound the alarms to test but this was absolutely one of the most disturbing and chaotic fire inspection I have seen in my 3 years of living here.
