  I had a very disappointing experience with Rio Grande Plumbing Supply Incorporated. 1010 E. Pecan Mcallen Tx 78502 Over the years I have purchased more than 100 electric water heaters from this supplier for my apartment complex. Unfortunately, when I recently went in to validate a warranty on a 40-gallon water heater, the service I received was extremely unprofessional. The employee, I. Palacios immediately questioned the installation and insinuated that the unit had not been installed and had not been functioning , despite the fact that I explained the situation clearly. He then claimed the warranty had expired. I showed and email the official warranty replacement confirmation from Rheem Manufacturing Company to prove the unit was still covered. After more than 20 years owning and operating rental properties, I understand that sometimes water heaters fail early. Even when they are under warranty, I still pay for installation and additional parts. That’s simply part of doing business. This particular heater’s warranty was set to expire next month (April). Apparently, because a previous warranty replacement had been issued for the same unit, the staff did not want to honor it. However, that should not change the fact that the manufacturer approved the replacement. The interaction became hostile, and I was told, “We are validating this warranty, but that’s it. This water heater doesn’t have a warranty anymore.” I have never heard of such a statement regarding a manufacturer warranty. In addition to the poor service, the environment in the store felt hostile and the facility itself was very dirty. As a long-time customer who has spent a significant amount of money there over the years, this experience was extremely disappointing. The handling of the situation felt unfair and very unprofessional.
