Oh boy, wait till you hear this. This review is for the Fort Bend County Area of this franchise. This particular review also pertains to the private ownership for this franchise.
Before the Christmas Holidays, my pipes clogged, so I called Centerpoint's Home Serve. Unfortunately, I had just signed up with their policy and needed to have a 30 day waiting period for sewer line service in the backyard; I only had indoor plumbing services in effect. So, I called this Houston Plumbing Company number, and this company called me back which is this one. I had not initially called their number at all.
Well, they were very personable and professional phone on the phone. So, I made an appointment.
One day or so later, days after Christmas, the Zoom Drain technician arrived and used his camera on the backyard sewer line, which was over $100.00 the estimate that Home Serve Contractors quoted me. He immediately stated that an excavation was needed, quoted at $3,800.00 with 1/2 due at commencement. (Oh, get this, this estimate was about $1,500.00 over the estimate that Home Serve contractors offered in December.) He even stated that the pipe may be under the tree, which is entirely inaccurate because the tree is well over 50 years old, and the builders would not have placed the tree over the pipe nor built under it.
(Aside for this push for an early excavation, the fees for these procedures are extremely over priced for this private franchise, in my opinion. Moreover, I only had one comparison with another contractor in the Fort Bend County area! The camera fee was at least 100.00 over and the excavation was over 1,500.00 including extra feet excavation estimate. Yes, there is even a charge for using your debit card or credit card on site.)
I was ready to just get started, but I waited a day and decided to wait for the 30 day period with Home Serve. Well, just last week, Home Serve's Contractors came and "snaked" the back yard pipe and hydro jetted it! That was it! (Zoom Drain's technician merely poked the camera and stated that it would not go any farther.)
The Zoom Drain technician did not at any time tell me that they could "snake" the back yard sewer line first nor hydro jet it first. I had not even heard of the term until Home Serve's contractors showed up in January of 2026.
I emailed them (Zoom Drain) my complaint, and they stated that their technician did give me that option which is not true at all. I emailed them a rebuttal and the fact that their phone number is not accurate for the Houston Area-Metro but streamlines to the Zoom Drain Company. (Oh, I am serious. You can call the Houston Plumbing Company and their franchise receives the calls.)
My point: I almost ended up excavating my entire back yard and possibly having to pay for removal of a tree for who knows how long the process would have taken, including fees for extra feet which were noted on Zoom's estimate. This was a possible scam, in my opinion, as a 60-year-old veteran female teacher.
I am not sure if this is a tactic always used or not, for individuals that are desperate and quickly making an appointment for excavation.
Just be careful, and I recommend signing up for Centerpoint's Home Serve, which includes Sewage, Water line or both as Premier, Electric, HVAC (Heating and Cooling with tune up) and Water heater service for pennies per month per each. Just ask Center Point about these services; it is Nation Wide. You can review their suggested contractors and decide on your services. No fee upon house visit because it is part of your policy with Home Serve.
**The Response is also inaccurate here on this Google Review. The technician DID NOT provide an option to excavation. The purpose of my review is to note this particular complaint. They just wanted to excavate and noted that this was the only route to remedy the problem. Very Bad. Very Bad.

Zoom Drain is a lifesaver. I had an unforeseen emergency (A palm tree was planted on top of the main sewer valve Years ago, not by me). The roots of the palm tree had begun to tangle into the pipes and in the sewer line, causing my pipes to back up. Zoom Drain was contacted, and the technician, Douglas, who is fantastic, immediately assessed the problem correctly. The office manager, Allison, stayed in touch with me throughout the whole process. I would definitely recommend Zoom Drain for any plumbing issue.
P.S.
Yes, the Palm 🌴 had to be cut down. ☺️
