Our hot water heater went out on a Friday night, and John Moore was able to get someone out to our home on Saturday, which we appreciated. We chose them because they are well-known and have a reputation for quality work, so we felt confident trusting the installation. Unfortunately, the experience left us feeling taken advantage of. The quote for replacing the water heater came to around $6,000. I asked the plumber if there was any flexibility in the pricing because that was more than we were prepared to spend, but was told there was no ability to adjust the price and that financing options were available. No other options or alternatives were offered. We were told NO other options were available. While the technician was professional, the price felt extremely high for the service, and the lack of any effort to work with us on cost was disappointing. If someone from John Moore would like to discuss the situation further, we would appreciate the opportunity to talk. The below response is completely disappointing and dismissive and deserves one star.

So DISAPPOINTED! We saw a ceiling stain that appeared to be from a water leak from our upstairs master bath. We called John Moore plumbing to see if they could detect if there was an active leak that needed repair. The first plumber (there were multiple) came out and said that the only way he could do a true inspection was to cut the ceiling and make sure that the pipe above it was not still leaking. It made sense. He recommended a contractor to come out and cut the ceiling drywall and install a dryer to dry out the ceiling joist and the wood. After this, it took three separate plumbers to come out and do the inspection to see if the pipe in the ceiling was leaking from the shower or not. Thankfully, it was not. It appears that the shower drain was clogged and had overrun creating a small leak in the bathroom tile transition which resulted in the damp ceiling below. However, after the plumber inspected the pipe, we called the contractor to come fix our ceiling and replace the drywall. To our utter surprise we were told that they don’t do that! They told us to read the fine print in the contract, which says that they don’t do these repairs. Why in the world would someone cut open your ceiling and not expect to repair it?!! Why didn’t they say that BEFORE THEY CUT OPEN OUR CEILING?!! This was the service that was recommended by John Moore! When we contacted John Moore, they said it was not up to them to do anything. It was on the contractor that opened up the drywall. After $1900 we still have a hole in our ceiling and there was really no leak. The plumber said to use Drano once a month to keep the shower clear. Well thanks for that $1900 professional advice! I have never been so frustrated and disappointed, almost $2000 spent and a hole in our ceiling that still needs to be repaired, resulting in more money coming out of our pocket. And no one wants to take responsibility for this. Disappointing!! Since John Moore recommended this contractor they should stand behind the full repair or make the contractor come and repair our ceiling. Please beware and don’t get taken advantage of like we have.

HI My mother wanted to write a review about John Moore for A while Now. So firstly we had work done by them before which was to patch up that Roof. It was a good experience and we were satisfied with the work. We were charged roughly a $2,000 for a 1 hour Job However, we ended up calling years later to patch up the roof again. This time though They sent A 3rd party company. they did not come out themselves like they advertised. After the 1 hour job was done they charged us $3,600. When we asked the 3rd party repair guy why it was so much. He said The payment was going to be split in half between both john more and the third party. We were trying to figure out how to pay it but John Moore sent a threatening letter. Stating they will not allow the cost to broken down and that we signed the contract. Because we signed the contract they said we couldn’t nothing about it and if we did we will not win. In the end we did end of paying it but it left a bad taste in their mouths. (PS. We are a low income family and my father was sick and my parents are elderly)

I would give ZERO stars if I could, but 1 is the least. Called to get an ice maker box installed and was told they would be at the house between noon and 4:00 to do the work. No one came, no one called. I gave them some extra time and waited until about 6:00 to call and find out what was going on. Talked to customer service and was told I was next but there was no estimated time. No one showed up that night. Called in the morning and found out that they rescheduled my appointment and didn't bother to tell me. Had noon to 4:00 again. About 6:30 they finally show up and the tech didn't have the parts to do the work like I was told he would. Ended up having to reschedule work the next day to finally get the work done. I will scream to the skies not to use John Moore. I knew they were more expensive, but I was willing to pay it to get it done when they said it would be done. No respect for the customer's time. No respect to keep them informed. Don't waste your time with them, they only want your money.

For context, the backflow “bell” on my sprinkler system failed during a freeze, causing a pipe to burst and forcing me to shut off the main water supply to my house. As a first-time homeowner in Sugar Land, Texas, this was my first experience dealing with this type of issue. A technician from John Moore responded and charged $899 to temporarily cap the damaged line so that water service could be restored to the home. Within approximately 10 minutes of inspection, he provided the following estimates: $3,000 to repair the sprinkler system $5,000 to repair plumbing beneath the driveway to the street $33,000 to replace water piping throughout the home He gladly pointed out that they offer financing. A few days later, I contacted a local irrigation specialist and sent photos of the issue. They immediately identified that the sprinkler system had a separate isolation valve and advised that the repair could be completed for approximately $250. They came out a few days later and fixed the problem. The takeaway is this: if you need immediate service and are willing to pay a significant premium, John Moore can provide rapid response. However, for non-emergency situations, I strongly recommend seeking alternative providers. Their pricing appears substantially inflated relative to local specialists.
