I had McCullough come out initially for a diagnostic and repair, but learned how expensive a new blower motor and board was and decided on replacing the whole system. All around the experience was great. Earlier in the year I checked with two other companies on replacing the system because it was already at 12 years of age - (I used "The Chill Brothers" and "ABC Home"). The companies that came by before were a lot more predatory with sales, pushy about how bad we needed a new system, techs were a bit rude, and prices were over $20k. With McCullough the initial tech who came out was refreshingly honest and informative. The follow up salesperson was knowledgeable, not pushy, and worked with getting us any potential discount. Then our installers, Richard and Arthur, were such an incredible duo. Both Richard and Arthur worked all day through the evening to get everything done correctly without cutting corners (even with our complicated old house electrical issues). I would definitely choose them again. Thank you Richard and Arthur and the whole team at McCullough!

Really helped me out after a freon leak in my 14-year old AC. Helped by providing me a very competitive price on a variable heat pump install with auxiliary gas furnace, which helps me be environmentally friendly while not having to worry about what happens when it gets too cold. After a few months, I had some issues with cooling when it should have been heating that I was trying to troubleshoot and couldn't figure out. They sent Shawn, a really helpful and friendly tech over and he was great. Took some time for him to figure out, too, but because it was due to the install, it was fully covered on the warranty and I didn't have to pay any extra - got it fixed in 1 day turnaround time, including him coming back before his usual shift the 2nd day to make sure there was continuity of service. Highly recommend for HVAC install / repair - avoids some of the questionable methodology of handymen I've used in Austin.

Extremely dissatisfied with McCollough’s service. Our system was under warranty, yet technician demanded $700 in labor for just a blower-motor swap. When we requested an itemized invoice, he threatened to call the police. He repeatedly misrepresented the bill—changing totals and explanations—and used abusive language in front of our family. This was a distressing and deeply disappointing experience that eroded our trust in the company. In the end, there was no itemized bill provided to us and we had to pay 700$ given the uncomfortable situation in front of my family

UPDATE: To reiterate, go to Service Wizard. They request a second opinion after they provide their services (this makes much more sense right?). The technician was not polite. Buyer beware. McCullough Heating & AC was highly recommended to me. I contacted them as a second opinion for a situation where mold had grown in my HVAC system. I emailed them proof that another company came out (this was required to waive their service fee) but when the technician arrived, he was aggressive, condescending and didn’t listen to what I was asking. Turns out that the company wanted my other HVAC quote before their visit so they could look at it line by line. Kind of defeats the purpose of a second opinion right? I went instead with Service Wizard who wanted the quote after the visit (and never bugged me for it). Go with Service Wizard! They are friendly, respectful, professional and know their stuff! Evan is a very knowledgeable technician.

Bought a new HVAC system from McCullough last year. Eric S came out to address some noises it was making. He was extremely thorough, identified both issues, and completely resolved them. I have an old house built in 1960 and my indoor unit is in a closet. To remove condensation I have a sump pump below the closet. On many occasions the pump was running much longer than it had when it was first installed. Eric found that somehow some of the tubing to the sump pump had a kink in it. Instead of just straightening out the kink, he completely replaced the hose and secured it so it wouldn’t move in the future and kink up again. The other issue was a small but persistent noise that happened every time the fan came on. That seemed more difficult for him to identify the cause, but he eventually removed the entire fan and casing and found that a small piece of insulation had become lodged in the fan so it hit like a playing card on a kid’s bike wheel every time the fan turned on. I was so thankful that he was as diligent as he was. Both were minor but annoying issues. With my office right beside the hallway where the unit is, I know every sound that thing makes. And now, it is as quiet as a mouse! Thanks, Eric! AND, because I pay the monthly maintenance fee, even though I’ve had the system more than a year, the visit cost me nothing. Thanks, McCullough!
