I cannot say enough about how pleased I am with Nashville Quality Granite. I needed nice granite counters for my small galley kitchen. I was able to peruse a wonderful selection of remnants and select granite that works wonderfully with my color scheme. Once I made my selection measurements and installation were lightening fast which was so appreciated as remodels aren't fun to live in. Will add photos once the project is finished. Thanks!

Frequently Asked Questions About Nashville Quality Granite
What are the major differences between quartz and granite?
Sourcing: Quartz is an engineered material composed of about 95% ground, natural quartz stone, and 5% manmade materials such as resins and pigments. Granite, in contrast, is 100% natural stone, mined from the earth and cut and polished for various applications, including countertops, floors, mantles, and backsplashes.
Hardness: Quartz is slightly harder than granite, coming in at a rating of 7 on the Mohs hardness scale compared to granite’s rating of 6. Granite is consequently at a slightly higher risk for cracks and chips when compared to quartz, although granite is still much more durable than other surface materials like soapstone or marble.
How do I know if my granite needs to be resealed?
You don’t need to be a geologist to know when your granite needs to be resealed. Check your granite by applying some water across the surface. If the water beads up, your sealer is good. If the water soaks in, it’s a good indicator that your granite isn’t protected any longer from stains.
Prevention is always the best defense. Reseal your granite countertops every year to prevent staining and water damage. If you have granite countertops in Nashville, TN that need to be resealed, contact us today!
Can I cut right on my granite countertop?
Yes! Granite is an extremely tough, durable material. In most cases, it can be used as a cutting surface without fear of scratching the stone. Although, because it’s so durable, your knives will become dull quickly if using granite as a cutting board.
We also don’t recommend cutting certain meats, like raw chicken, straight on the granite surface. There's a small chance of salmonella penetrating the surface and contaminating other foods.
Can I set hot pans and pots straight on my granite surface?
This is yet another reason granite has proliferated as a kitchen countertop material. Granite will not burn or scorch when hot surfaces are set on the countertop
What can I expect during my granite or quartz installation?
Although we will make every effort to keep dust to a minimum, any adjustments or cutouts that are done on-site will create stone dust. The act of placing the tops on your cabinets can also shake dust loose from inside the cabinets themselves. To minimize cleanup and prevent any damage to breakable cookware, please remove the contents of your lower cabinets. It is also recommended to remove utensil drawers. Put off painting or installing trim in the area where your tops will be as well.
Do white quartz countertops stain easily?
No, quartz is a non-porous surface that’s 99.9% solid. This means that quartz countertops will resist stains from common spills like fruit juices, tea, coffee, food coloring, and more. Daily cleaning is simply done with a soft sponge and warm water. A gentle liquid cleaner works for more stubborn messes
Does marble-looking quartz really look like marble?
Yes. This gorgeous material offers realistic veining but without the worry of staining a beautiful white surface or having to reseal on a regular basis. Marble-looking quartz is also an excellent way to get the luxurious look of marble with less worry about scratching, burning, and chipping
Should granite be sealed?
Yes, granite should be sealed to protect the stone from staining. Sealer is a penetrating product that absorbs into the stone without impacting its color. Food items, such as curry or beet juice, could soak into the stone and leave a stain, so the sealer fills in those porous spaces in the granite and leaves nowhere for other staining agents to go. It isn’t an impenetrable barrier against moisture, so any staining liquids should still be cleaned up as soon as possible.
Why choose quartz over granite?
Quartz is easier to maintain than granite. As a non-porous stone, it is heat-resistant, stain-resistant, and bacteria-free. Quartz countertops achieve a high level of durability without any sealant. In fact, according to The Spruce, quartz countertops are completely waterproof
