Greer Septic was called to pump our septic tank by a construction company through our homeowner's insurance. I stayed home from work to be there when they arrived. The older grumpy man that owns the company and the equally as grumpy and rude younger guy with him walked into my yard, dug around in a couple of spots and said "Well we can't find your tank.’’ I asked my neighbor to come over and show them where the septic tank was as she's been living next to our house for over 30 years and they refused to dig where she showed them it was. I asked them if they would see if it was where she showed them and they both replied "I'm not digging around in this yard all day" and they hopped on their truck and left! LOL. They weren't even there 5 minutes! Isn't that what the job entails? Digging to find the septic tank so it can be pumped??? I was absolutely floored at their lack of professionalism or courtesy or willingness to find our tank. They were both so RUDE. They obviously do not want to do manual labor, so they should definitely be in another profession. The next day another reputable company Maxwell came out and DID pump our tank and located it within 10 minutes! And it was where my neighbor had said it was the day before too but Greer was just too lazy to look for it! The guy that showed up with Maxwell named Johnny the very next day was so friendly and courteous. The difference between these companies was night and day. I would NEVER look to this company to do any work. They are lazy and very rude!

Ronnie did a great job. He got out to my house the same day I called him and he pumped my septic tank for less than all of the competitors. I will be using him from now on!
Frequently Asked Questions About Greer Septic Service
How often should I have my septic tank pumped?
The frequency of septic tank pumping depends on several factors, including the size of your tank, the number of people in your household, and your water usage habits. As a general guideline, most residential septic tanks should be pumped every 3 to 5 years. However, for a more accurate assessment, it's advisable to consult with a professional septic service provider who can evaluate your specific situation.
What are the signs that my septic tank needs to be pumped?
Several indicators suggest your septic tank may require pumping. These include slow draining in sinks and toilets, unpleasant odors around drains or in your yard, water pooling near the septic tank or drain field, and lush vegetation growth over the drain field area. If you notice any of these signs, it's recommended to contact a professional septic service for an inspection and possible pumping.
Can I use regular household cleaners if I have a septic system?
While using regular household cleaners is generally acceptable, it's important to exercise caution. Harsh chemicals and antibacterial products can disrupt the natural bacterial balance in your septic system. It's advisable to use septic-safe cleaning products and avoid excessive use of bleach or other strong chemicals. Additionally, it's recommended to space out your cleaning tasks to prevent overwhelming your septic system with cleaning agents.
What should I do if my septic system is backing up?
If you're experiencing a septic system backup, it's crucial to take immediate action. First, discontinue water usage in your home to prevent further backup. Next, contact a professional septic service provider for emergency assistance. Do not attempt to open the septic tank yourself, as this can be hazardous. It's also advisable to keep family members and pets away from the affected areas until the issue is resolved by professionals.
Are septic tank additives necessary or beneficial?
The necessity and benefits of septic tank additives are subjects of ongoing debate in the industry. While some additives claim to enhance bacterial activity or break down solids, there's limited scientific evidence supporting their effectiveness. A well-maintained septic system typically doesn't require additives. Instead, regular pumping and proper usage habits are generally considered the most reliable methods for maintaining a healthy septic system. It's advisable to consult with a professional septic service provider before using any additives.
