  I thought Ashton Woods was a prime builder, but after purchasing a model in Midtown Nexton, I am very disappointed. The finish work throughout the house looks like it was done by a mid-tier builder at best. Trim has gaps and rough patches everywhere, venting in attic left disconnected, terrible patchwork around door casing, uneven finish work that shows through the paint, painters tape left behind door hinges, staples sticking up through carpet. The list goes on. Whoever the subcontractors are or the QA personnel needs to be replaced. A brand new home should not feel like I’m the second or third person living it

  Moved into our new home in October. Build quality isn’t great, and several issues that should have been resolved before closing were left unfinished and took almost three months after closing to address. The post-closing warranty process has also been very disappointing. Everything takes far longer than it should, and the warranty team handling my claim is extremely unresponsive. We suspect a possible roof leak due to a stain on the garage ceiling. The installer missed two appointments, then did only a quick visual check without entering the attic or testing moisture levels. They also left without providing any update to me directly, and two weeks later—after four follow-ups—I still don’t have a simple yes or no on whether the roof is okay. Shower grout is bubbling, and the “repair” was just smearing grout over the holes with fingers instead of removing and replacing it properly. Flooring in a high traffic area is uneven, the installer said they would order materials and come back to pull up the flooring and inspect, but no follow-up has been scheduled. Two additional issues that the plumber and painter couldn’t fix on their first visit were also left unresolved, and ten days later I still haven’t received any return dates for any of these three items. Don’t rely on the warranty and be prepared to hire contractor at your own expenses, or DIY, for fixes after closing. Lower expectations and you’ll probably be happier than I’ve been.
