- SDSteve DexterAug 27, 20181.0We purchased a home that was 3 months old when the owners had medical issues and left. So --almost brand new. Gale Contracting had installed the two fireplaces (inside and on the porch outside) Very cheap quality and very poor installation. The "curtain" type mesh screens would not open/close easily and did not hang straight. We called them to see about making it look better and they did come out, but provided no compensation towards replacing the new screens with something else. We had a consult by a fireplace company on HHI and he said that the install was bad --the quality of the fireplaces was super cheap --and that the outside fireplace was not even a model suitable for outdoor use and that we would see rust and corrosion due to dampness. The gas line had been plumbed in incorrectly with the "on" handle buried under the logs where one could not get to it. There was nothing good about these fireplaces, and the customer service was even worse. The sales guy made no effort to compensate us for this poor installation --but offered us only to replace the screens with other screens that would look the same. Screens would not meet in the middle and bowed out leaving a circle opening. Tacky --though brand new and never used. I would pay more and use a more professional fireplace company--which is what we are going to do now --removing the shoddy "Superior" brand fireplaces altogether and having them re-plumbed.
