  Austin Henderson was a technician who came to my home today. He was very professional and he provided me with clarity of the work that could be done. In addition to that, he provided me with a full range of services offered by Preferred Home Services. He also verified the pressure on my waterline and informed me that the regulator needed to be replaced. He provided me with a number of options, all of which I was grateful for. Should we choose to work with Preferred Home Services, I would welcome having Austin be the technician to do the work.

  We had PHS install a backflow protector and dig a new drain field in our yard in December after our sewage backed up in our house from a blocked pipe somewhere in the line. The initial consult was fine and the techs showed up but the job was extremely rushed because the said they had to be at their next job. They completely destroyed our entire yard. They said they "were plumbers, not landscapers" which I get, BUT, we couldn't even open our fence because the dirt was a foot higher than it should be and our entire yard looks like a plowed field. We can't even walk through it without twisting an ankle. After asking them to do better, they agreed that it was a mess and they sent someone else back to try to do a better job at leveling the yard. Their "rushed fix" didn't actually "fix" anything. We now have a huge standing water issue and our yard is a lake that doesn't drain-all the way up to the walls of my house. We have NEVER had standing water issues and we've now gotten two quotes from other companies to try to repair the damage from PHS and it's going to cost us another 15k on top of the 10k that PHS charged us for the drain-field. We don't have that kind of money to fix something that should not have been broken to begin with. We're extremely frustrated with the whole experience and don't have a way to fix the issue without spending a fortune to install a massive French drain system, bring in top soil, level, and re-sod. What a disaster! We don't know what to do now.

  The technician that came was Chris Crawford. I had exceptional service. The entire process of signing up for services and receiving them was second to none. I highly recommend this company to anyone, everyone has been extremely professional and knowledgeable. I had my water heater serviced, Chris took time to explain everything to me. I am also having the air conditioner serviced through them. Extremely fast appointments available.

  I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PREFERRED! You need a recommendation in the Greenville, SC area? Here goes!!! Before recently purchasing my house here in Greenville, the complete AC portion of the 30 year old HVAC system was replaced about 3 years ago including the flex vent attached to the rigid ducts and had a complete cleaning... But I recently found out the hard way on the morning of that cold January 25, 2026, Sunday, that the blower and heater strips were not - when the blower motor squealed and then died. It wasn't a circuit breaker issue. So, I opened the inside unit and found that the fan and motor was seized. No temporary fix and nothing I could do until the weather improved. Luckily I have good emergency backup space heaters. Mid Monday morning, I made several calls to companies that were coming up as recommendations on Angi and Thumbtack site but NOT one wanted to travel on the (now thawed) roads or just didn't pick up. I left messages and no one was returning my calls. Then during the News at noon, I saw an advertisement for Preferred. I immediately called them, and in less time as promised - just a little over an hour later - I received a text and then Scott, the technician from Preferred Home Services arrived seconds later. He accessed the problem and told me the issue that I was already aware of - the parts for this aged unit were discontinued over 5 years earlier. But that didn't stop Scott from making some calls to his office, going back to his shop and returning within the hour with a new motor and brackets to rebuild the blower in the HVAC unit. Everything else, he removed, professionally cleaned in his van, and reinstalled. The heat strips might need to be replaced at a later time but they are only used for aux heating. After Scott turned it back on, it was sounding like an entirely newly installed unit! And definitely stronger air flow but QUIETER. Scott didn't stop there. While testing the completed work, he inspected the whole system and discovered that the "Smart" thermostat had the wrong settings to make this system work better and more efficiently. He said generally the settings weren't wrong - only wrong for this old system. In less than 2 mins he had it reprogrammed. It was immediately noticeable and said that it would eventually save on performance and heating costs! You need a recommendation in the Greenville, SC area? CALL PREFERRED HOME SERVICES!!!!
