Adam was a huge help with being able to respond to an urgent repair request at one of my rental properties. He was able to satisfy all of the tenants concerns and even did the work on a Sunday to accommodate the time line. I then asked about some renovation work at my personal residence which he took the time to discuss potential options with me and ultimately work through the best solution for the project. He was always upfront about his costs, straightforward with his approach and was very communicative throughout the process. Always ensured work areas were cleaned at the end of day and was cognizant of how his work could potentially impact mine as I work from home. I would absolutely recommend Adam for your next home renovation big or small.

We recently had our bathroom gutted and remodeled by Adam. McDowell Construction is one man, and he is a very nice and personable guy. The bathroom ended up LOOKING great. Unfortunately, that's end of the positives we took away from this experience. After the bathroom was "finished", the shower door leaked terribly and more importantly so did several parts of the tub drain. We called Adam and he came the next day to attempt to fix these issues. That evening we discovered that he was not able to, as they both still leaked. Adam said he would be over the next day with a "contractor friend" to make sure it was done right (red flag). The next day came and went. We never saw Adam and he didn't respond to any texts until 9:04 pm when he texted me and told me he was busy all day (red flag). He said he would be out the following Monday with his contractor friend to fix the drain. The following Monday he ignored 4 phone calls and 3 texts (red flag) until the last phone call at 2pm was to inform him that we were calling a plumber and wouldn't be making the final payment until we had a working shower. To make a long story not so long...on top of paying Adam, we ended up paying a plumber big money to replace the entire drain on our brand new tub because it was so poorly installed. Oh, and I cleaned and resealed the shower doors myself (at my own expense). If you need some flooring, drywall or a new sink, I think Adam could get that done for you. My honest opinion is that he is not capable of doing a full bathroom remodel. The amount we were charged for his labor did not remotely reflect the quality of work he did. The amount of problems we had with the shower in one week has left us questioning the quality of work done behind the drywall. Only time will tell, and that's not the feeling you want to be left with after paying 5 figures for a new bathroom. Edit in response: Adam's response gets some things right and also gets some wrong. This includes forgetting that he added $725 in labor to the final bill in order to offset the fact that "he paid the plumber" to fix his mistake, the project was not actually finished on time, and the original text he ignored Monday at 8:00 asking when he would be out. We had waited 5 days for a receipt at that point and the final receipt we did receive was hastily scribbled on the back of a business card, which is super professional. This response shows a pattern of dishonestly that is another red flag. The whole experience honestly turned into a nightmare and I was left trying to find some good to offset the bad in my review. I do still believe Adam is a good guy, I just wouldn't hire him again.

It is important to us if a contractor does great work but also calls back and shows up on time. McDowell Construction met and exceeded all our expectations. Adam did a great job on our doors. We will for sure call him for our next project!
