Rick and his team were exceptional in their professionalism, efficiency, and masterful results. Down to the finest details, they conducted their work with a precision, care, and standards far exceeding that of many tradesmen I have had work done by in the past. I would be more than happy to hire them again in the future should we ever need to! I genuinely recommend their services to anyone looking to have their hardwood floors finished. We are truly grateful for the beautiful floors we now have!

If Nissly has worked on high profile projects such as the governor’s mansion, you can rest assured they can deliver a top-quality professional job restoring your floors.
We had 4-5 quotes from different flooring companies. While Nissly’s numbers were quite on par with the rest, it was the only one who noticed the water damage in the powder room -- thus requiring replacement hardwood. The others were totally oblivious to it. In addition, Nissly would apply 4 layers of coatings while others would apply fewer, one even suggested the use of “2-in-1” coating. Nissly also specified the removal of the toilet and appliances instead of sanding around them. In other words, you get much more of “bang for your buck.”
Dan, the project manager, is the master of his craft. He took care of many incidental improvements through the course of the project, such as securing a loose staircase spindle, adding a new flange to the toilet, etc. (Oh, dare I say he reminds me of Donald Sutherland!) And his assistant, Talon, has great work ethic, being steadfast and thorough. Rick the owner was easy to work with. Aside from providing a thorough quote, he squeezed us into his packed schedule so our project could get started and finished earlier, as well as helping us work with the insurance. Great people!
Nissly should be your top pick for hardwood floor refinishing. Just be sure to be flexible with your scheduling. Because of its reputation and popularity, they are often fully booked for months in advance.

Rick and his team did an AMAZING job on our floors! He is a wealth of knowledge and helped us pick the exact stain that completely transformed our 73-year-old white oak floors--in really rough shape-- into looking brand new! He went above and beyond with answering all of our questions, was prompt, left the place tidy and his price was the best in town. I hire a lot of folks for projects on our properties and Rick and his team give you old school service. You can't go wrong with this company! Thanks again, Rick!
Frequently Asked Questions About Nissly Professional Hardwood Flooring
What is the basic process?
Our process typically spans three days. On day one, we remove the carpet and its fixtures, fill holes, and sand the floor. If needed, we also apply stain. Day two involves applying a sealer coat and the first layer of finish. On the final day, we screen the floor for smoothness and apply the last two coats of finish, buffing between applications.
Will there be a lot of dust?
While some dust is inevitable, our process is designed to be nearly dust-free. We take cleanliness very seriously and implement thorough clean-up procedures throughout the project.
Do we need to move out?
Relocation is not necessary. We use water-borne urethane finishes that are superior to oil-modified alternatives. The floor becomes walkable just three hours after each application. It reaches 90% cure within 24 hours and full cure in a week, allowing for furniture replacement the day after project completion.
Why oil-based?
Oil-based finishes enhance wood patina, reduce grain raise, and offer superior durability. They provide water and urine resistance, allowing for easy cleaning similar to tile floors. Our recommended product includes a UV-blocker for added protection.
How long will it take?
Project duration varies. Refinishing typically takes several days, while complete installations may extend beyond a week. We allow time for wood acclimation to prevent issues like buckling, cupping, or gaps that can occur if the wood isn't properly adjusted to your home's environment.
How do I control the moisture content?
Maintain a moisture level between 35-50 percent. Use warm-air humidifiers in winter and air conditioning in summer. This is particularly important for hardwoods and plank flooring.
What about urine stains?
Urine stains often resist sanding. Options include replacing individual boards, using enzymes and dark stain to minimize odor and discoloration, or angled sanding to lighten the stain. For persistent issues or sun-damaged wood that can't be matched, we recommend complete floor sanding.
Will these fumes hurt my children?
Our low VOC finishes are considered safe for children and pets. We also offer 'green' finishes with very low VOC content for added peace of mind.
What about dust-free sandless options?
Dust-free, sandless methods use chemicals to strip the floor and apply a liquid acrylic wax. While this approach reduces dust, it doesn't address unevenness or damage. The resulting finish shows marks easily and requires frequent maintenance to maintain its appearance.
How do I maintain my floor?
To maintain your floor: use entrance rugs, keep plants off the wood, use furniture glides, clean spills promptly, vacuum regularly with a brush attachment, use a sponge mop in the direction of the wood grain, and avoid abrasive cleaners, waxes, or oil soaps. We provide a recipe for a homemade cleaning solution suitable for your new floor.
