They showed up at my house asking questions and offering free estimates. We scheduled an appointment for the next day for them to give a free quote. They showed up 20 minutes late. The guy didn't seem like he wanted to talk to me as someone else had made the appointment. He said he would take a look, take measurements, and be back to talk with me. I said ok and closed the door. I waited 40 minutes for him to come back. I noticed none of my cameras around my property go off. I checked them. Right after we were done talking, he got in his car and left.

Rating updated from 1 to 3 stars after Follow-up at bottom. Rating is for quotation process only as their price seemed so incredibly high that I will never use them to do anything. So, I did not hire Planet Roof but only after getting quotes from other qualified contractors and realizing how bad their price seems. This Request For Quote was for a replacement over a standing seam metal front porch roof but I initially asked them for a price to repair/reinstall the two metal sheets which had blown off in a wind storm. I had the 2 panels and they were in decent condition. The salesman, Donnie, started by saying that the roof couldn't be repaired and needed to be replaced completely. Note that two days later, I had a different roofing company repair the roof properly for $750. Back to the Planet Roof quote process.....Donnie then said that the roof was 400 square feet in size (called "four square" in roofing lingo). I told him I thought that was too large as I had measured it to be 8.5 feet by 31 feet (or about 264 square feet). He went outside and looked again and said "It's definitely four square" (400 square feet). He then told me that standing seam metal roofs cost about $4100 per square (per hundred square feet) and that this replacement would cost $16,632. He then offered a 15% discount (after talking to his "boss" on the phone) which came to about $14,300, but only if I signed up today. What Donnie didn't say was that nearly all roofers use an app called ROOFR or similar which shows them on their tablet (or you on your computer or phone) the exact square footage of every element of your home's roof. ROOFR (I leaned from Donnie's competitor) showed my metal roof to be 276 square feet !!! NOT 400 square feet. So to start out, IMO, Donnie was lying about the size of the roof I wanted replaced, or he was completely ignorant about how to measure. Two days later, as I mentioned previously, the roof was expertly repaired for minimal cost. I received a second quote several days after that from a reputable, family owned roofing company in business for over 30 years (with about 65 employees) for complete metal roof replacement (same kind as current) for $7500 with a lifetime guarantee. So Planet Roof was overcharging me (compared to the second quote) by almost 100%.....just unbelievable. This second quote was not some “Chuck with a truck” business but a well established, multi location company that replaces hundreds of roofs per year. Based on my experience with Planet Roof, I would NEVER call them again, and will let my neighbors and friends know about their awful practices. BTW...it's always good to check out the complaints on Better Business Bureau (BBB). BUYER BEWARE.
Update: Received another verbal quote (3rd) from a reputable and long time roofing company for $8000 plus extras for replacing some shingles, stonework and siding where the front porch matched up to the second floor of the house. We did not detail the extras at this time, but the sense was that they could add a thousand or more to the total price.
Follow-up: Received a call from Joel, owner of Planet Roof, who asked if I would be willing to discuss their quote to find out what went wrong. He explained that Donnie included all the extras (shingles, flashing, stone work, cement board siding) where the metal meets the house and that their price doesn't seen too far out of line due to these inclusions. Lengthy discussion followed about how to improve the quotation process and the need to explain in detail to the homeowner where each element of the price came from. Also, homeowner should be shown how the roof dimensions (number of square) are determined. I must give Joel credit for his interest in improving the process and listening to the customer. Customers make paydays possible.

I recently had siding put on my double wide it started alright in the beginning with Nolan he explained everything.but the wrong shutters were ordered, it took 5 days to get the right ones but on because the crew never showed up. Then a piece of siding fell off I was told when they would come to fix it.the crew never came.called production manager and he said he didn't know why they didn't show. That evening they came I was never called to let me know they were coming , called PM and he said he didn't know they were coming. I find out this crew was famous for this.every time I was promised at time that the crew was to come they had excuses, supposed to be at my house at7:30 were late had a flat tire never showed up. All this time this was going on felt like no body was in charge, and I the customer was no one. I find out this crew was responsible for 6houses unfinished one house has to have all siding redone.why is this allowed to happen, I thought your suppose to get rid of the problem, there was never any effort to change what was going on.never had any direct communication, I had to keep calling to find out what was going on.i got the feeling this is the way it is and I'm suppose to expect it. I would have fired the crew, and find out why this is allowed to happen. This situation was a nightmare.i the end the siding turned out exceptible. No customer should go through with this.i hope for the sake of planet roof this will be a learning lesson.the only relief I got is it's finally over.

We had our roof replaced by this company on August 30. While the roof itself appears to be fine, our overall experience has been extremely disappointing due to their lack of accountability and communication.
During construction, one of their tools was dropped through our hardtop gazebo on our porch, creating a hole. At the time, we were told this damage would be handled through their insurance and that the gazebo would be replaced. We were reassured not to worry. we are very understanding people and know that accidents happen.
However, It is now December 18, and after multiple follow-up calls over the past few months, we are still being told they “can’t find a replacement” and are “working on it.” Meanwhile, rain and snow have been coming through the damaged gazebo for three months, soaking our porch furniture, which is now likely ruined.
While the roof installation itself was acceptable, the complete lack of follow-through, communication, and responsibility for the damage they caused makes it impossible for me to recommend or ever use this company again.
