My name is Ivery Mays Jr. & I'm Carolyn Mays's son and this email is on her behalf. I arrived at my mom's (Carolyn Mays) home and the 1st thing I notice are rocks the size of my fist in her yard. In addition, you can see holes that didn't get properly filled with dirt and a pipe fitting. Once I entered into the house, I proceeded to walk towards the basement where majority of the work was performed. Second, I noticed that there was some concrete or some type of mud used to patch up a hole. If you look at the picture, you can see that the hole wasn't properly filled. Next I noticed that there was piece of hose hanging from the ceiling in the furnace room. I proceeded to walk over to the laundry area and noticed that there were 2 tees that were installed right behind the basement window, preventing the window from being opened. Lastly I couldn't help but notice that the pipe was installed under the floor joist instead of holes being drilled through the joist.
On October 5, 2021 at 6:02 PM (P.S.T), my mom called Genoline and informed her that she had a complaint about the work that had been performed at her home. After Carolyn spoke to Genoline, I started talking to her and explaining everything that you see in the pictures in this email. Genoline informed me that she would document everything that was discussed this evening. Genoline also provided me with the email so I could provide pictures of the work that was performed.
On October 5, 2021 at 6:29 PM (P.S.T.), my mom contacted Joe who worked for River City Environmental. I proceeded to get on the phone and I introduced and informed Joe that I was Carolyn's son, Ivery Mays. I asked Joe if he was finished with the work that was performed at my mom's home. Joe informed me that they were finished. I asked Joe if the were done why was there a pipe fitting, rocks the size of my fist in her lawn and holes that hadn't been properly filled. I also informed Joe that there was a pipe hanging in the furnace room and that the 2 tees installed right in front of the basement window. Joe told me that they needed to come back and install some braces to support the 2 copper lines that were just behind the washing machine. I asked Joe if he would have installed the pipe the same way at his house. Joe stated that he would. I informed Joe that the work that was performed was inadequate. I asked why did they install the pipe under the floor joist instead of drilling holes in the joist & running the pipe through the holes. Joe stated that drilling holes in the floor joist would have compromised the integrity of the structure. I informed Joe that he was incorrect. I asked Joe what was his title and Joe stated that he was a 4th year apprentice. I informed Joe that I was a General Foreman and member of Local 290 and that I was a Union Steamfitter of 10 years. I stated that I've worked on pipe from 1/4" all the way up to 82". I informed Joe that as a Union Steamfitter, we didn't walk away from a job unless it was 100% complete. I also informed Joe that he needed to take pride in his work. I asked Joe who was his supervisor. Joe reported that his supervisor was Jesse and he'd be in the office tomorrow around noon. I informed Joe that I'd be calling Jesse tomorrow around noon to discuss the inferior work that was performed at Carolyn's home.
I WAS APPAULED AT THE WORK THAT WAS PERFORMED AT MY MOM'S HOME. THE WORKMANSHIP WAS VERY POOR AND UNACCEPTABLE. MY MOM IS 74 YEARS OLD AND I BELIEVE SHE WAS TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF DUE TO HER AGE AND THE FACT THAT SHE HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS CODE OR NOT. THE INDIVIDUALS WHO PERFORMED THIS GARBAGE AT MY MOM'S HOME SHOULD BE AHSAMED OF THEMSELVES AND FIRED ON THE SPOT. THE WORK PERFORMED LOOKED LIKE TEMPORARY PATCH WORK WHERE A PERMANENT SOLUTION SHOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETED.

I have used River City Environmental in the past and have always had great work done in a timely manner and affordable.
River City has come through and has followed up on issues which caused me much stress and the loss of trust in their company. Due to their work to correct the problem I am changing my posting to 4 stars.
Thank you River City !
That has changed! I called them out on an emergency sewer issue on Dec the 7th. They explained there would be an up charge for same day service. I agreed. That is where things changed. They sent one truck out who could not complete the job. The service tech said another truck would be out later, which did not show up. I call the main office the next morning and was told that a tech would be out as soon as they completed the job they were on. I asked that the tech give me a call 30 minutes when on the way because I lived in Vancouver WA. I called back to check status. I was told the tech was finishing up the job he was on his way. I ask again to make sure the tech was to call me when on their way. I went to the sight to make sure parking was available.
While there the tech came. When asked why no call he said he did not see to call 30 min. before. A second truck showed up to vacume out the sewer line. The tech filmed the line and found a massive root ball in the line along with a break in the line. I asked could I have a copy of the film with the findings. The tech said I would need to call the office to have one sent to me. The first tech left after marking the sidewalk with location and depth of the break. The second tech got in his truck and sat there for approximately 20 minutes.
On the 17th I received an invoice for services performed on the 7th and 8th. with balance due on the 27th. I called into the office to verify why I was only give 10 days to pay and that I was also over charged for the time. The 1st and 2nd truck were out on locationa total of under 2 hours. I was informed that the two trucks were out a total of 2 hours and 15 min. and that over 2 hours the rate was port to port. Making the 15 min. over 2 hours up chared to a full 1 hour. I spoke with Carol in billing concerning this issue several times. First being told she would check into the issue, then on another call she said the bill would be looked into. Then after several more calls and not receiving an adjusted bill I was told by Carol the bill would not be adjusted. Due to th 15 min. was charged port to port. I then asked that they issue me another invoice it still took 2 days to receive.
As for repairing the broken sewer line it took over a week for me to be given a quote. On the 18th of December I received a 9 page quote with no dollar amount with in the quote. I called Chas, who I told was was the project manager for my project . He assured me it would be sent out with the amount for the repair. I asked couldn't it be quoted over the phone and was told it would be resent. I receiveda second quote, still no dollar amount in the 9 page quote. This is all happening with a tenant living in the unit which is why I had River City come out immediately and agreed to pay the extra fee.
With all of River City lack of follow through I was able to get another sewer company to come out and repair the sewer on Christmas eve. Without charging extra fees for a total charge not too much higher than River City had charged to clear the sewer line.
Unfortunately I will not use or recommend River City for any services they offer. While I have no complaints with their employees I feel that River City has a policy that does not recognize customer service and timely response to customer complaints or questions.
