I recently called McFarlane's to get a price for three units of bark delivered to my home. I provided my information and was quoted $720, which was a bit higher than other quotes I'd received, but I chose them because they could deliver the next day.
However, when I called back 15 minutes later to schedule the delivery, a different person picked up. She was looking for my address on a paper map and informed me that I was actually in delivery zone 2, not zone 1, which bumps the price up to $960. I was shocked! I had just been quoted $720, and her explanation was that the first employee must have made an error regarding my location. We're talking about a half-mile difference!
Honestly, I couldn't believe the price jump for such a small distance. Frustrated, I ended up calling Mt. Scott Fuel instead and got the same amount of bark delivered for $675, which was $285 less than McFarlane's! They were even further away, about five miles.
Overall, I recommend checking out Mt. Scott Fuel if you want a better deal. I felt pretty let down by McFarlane's pricing, especially given the mix-up with their delivery zones.
