Walk in, confess you’re not 100 % sure what you need, and they’ll coach you through species, grades, and dimensions without a hint of impatience. Every project question I lobbed their way was met with a helpful suggestion (and sometimes a money‑saving alternative I hadn’t considered). Quality lumber. Their stock comes in dry, straight, and ready to work, no “squeeze out the moisture and hope for the best.” It’s a game‑changer if you want things to stay put after installation. Deep inventory + quick turnarounds. Most of the time they have exactly what I’m after. When they don’t, they can usually bring it in within a day or two, so long as I plan ahead. Pro tips for first‑timers: Know your rough list or measurements. Even a sketch helps the counter crew zero in fast. Ask questions early. They’re busy, but happy to steer you toward the right product. Schedule your pickup to offset when contractors are loading up. In my experience avoid first thing in the morning and the last hour before close.
