He scoped the heat exchanger and found a small crack forming, informed me the part warranty coverage was 20 years, and then provided a labor-only estimate. Kurt also looked into my external condensate line question ( it froze solid last February), and provided me with guidance if my insulation job wasn’t enough to prevent future freezing (e.g., plug in heat tape/strip on freezing days). Very positive experience. Thank you Kurt and Area Heating & Cooling! 3/19/2025 Update: Area Heating and Kurt replaced the faulty Trane clamshell heat exchanger ( multiple small cracks were found) within three hours at a great price (several hundred dollars, which is based on a flat rate for hours of labor required). I highly recommend everyone on the Area Heating team for a great job!
