- JLJennifer LikesMay 14, 20241.0My husband and I made arrangements with Shawn and Summer for tile installation for our backsplash and quartz countertops in our kitchen. The only issue prior to installation was confusion about who would pick up the tile. Without a contract, it was based on verbal agreement. After emailing Summer pictures of the tile, she increased the work amount, and we agreed due to the tile's diamond shape. On installation day, there was no communication about the arrival time or schedule. We had to call to find out. While removing the backsplash and quartz, Shawn and his helper Nick refused to turn off the kitchen breakers, causing damage to an outlet. We had to turn it off ourselves for safety. The lack of communication continued throughout the process, with no one showing up on Tuesday. When they finally arrived, Nick, who was supposed to do the tile work, seemed inexperienced and unprepared. He damaged our wall while bringing in the countertops and admitted he had never worked with the grout we provided. Despite Shawn's absence and Nick's struggles, we paid them as agreed, only to find the job poorly done. The backsplash had huge gaps in the grout, glue seeping through, and improper sealing. Despite multiple attempts to fix it, Shawn and Summer never checked the work or sent the “tile expert”. Even two months later, we still have unresolved issues with the grout and seams, multiple scratches in the quartz, and no seal around the quartz and tile. Despite paying a significant amount, their work was far from satisfactory.
