  I would highly recommend Basement Doctor to anyone looking to have work done. They were GREAT to work with from start to finish. We were needing to get some issues assessed and fixed before we could close on our house. Scot was very personable, professional and explained everything that would need to be done. He was able to get the job scheduled in a very timely manner and made sure we had everything we would need in order to close on the house. Nate and his crew came in and had the job done in less than two day and left the work area looking great. Everything was completed to our satisfaction. I will definitely use The Basement Doctor for any future work.

  My basement was just finished today and I could not be happier with the team that was sent to help with this project. Project manager - Jacob, Foreman - Zach Mike and Brady and the first day Lamar. These guys were all great in their perspective fields. I had a big project that took 5 days. Every day they cleaned up and the final day everything was very clean. Zach came and did the pre-Inspection and then he conferred on a regular basis with the project manager as to where they were in the process. I felt very comfortable with them in my home and they were all quite respectful. If I had questions they answered them, they explained everything that would be going on day to day. It ran like a well oiled machine. They did not charge me anything extra if they found something that was not caught in the initial inspection and they worked to get permits quickly from the city and the city did come out to inspect which was great and went very smoothly . The project like I said just finished and everything seems fine . They worked with me on pricing. I did have 3 companies come but these guys were able to get me in the quickest due to a cancellation I believe but nevertheless, that was the main reason I chose them as my basement needed help. If you need waterproofing done , sump pump replacing and all the other things they do. Definitely make them one on your list to check out .

He took the time to listen, followed up promptly with a detailed report, and even offered a few extra tips for preventative maintenance—just the kind of personal touch that’s become rare these days. Overall, Scott’s blend of punctuality, expertise, data‑driven methodology, and genuine, personable service made the inspection experience seamless and reassuring. Highly Recommend.

  In Sept 2025, I signed a contract with The Basement Doctor (J&D Home Improvement, Inc.) for full crawl-space encapsulation of two crawlspaces and a dehumidifier. The contract clearly stated “full encapsulation,” and no changes were made to that scope. After the work was completed, I discovered that only a partial vapor barrier was installed—none of the core components of encapsulation (sealed walls, insulation, sealed vents, etc.) were included. When I raised concerns, the first project manager dismissed them, then emailed that they had installed a “vapor barrier per contract,” which was false. A second project manager later admitted in writing that the work was not a full encapsulation and that pricing drove their decision to downgrade the scope—without informing me or changing the contract. Despite my efforts to resolve this professionally, including providing a third-party inspection showing missing components and offering to negotiate, the company missed three deadlines to respond. I submitted a formal complaint to the Ohio Attorney General and disputed the GreenSky loan I used to finance the job, as the work was never completed per agreement. This company breached its contract, misrepresented its services, and has refused to make it right. I’ve kept all communications in writing. I do not recommend The Basement Doctor and strongly caution others considering their services.

  We had some Major foundation work done in last few weeks. The Basement Doctor did the work. We are very pleased. Mike Hlavsa did the initial work up. He is so easy to work with. We had The Basement Doctor do work a number of years ago. We were relieved that he was still with the company. He did an absolutely thorough check of everything. We were impressed. (I had gotten another estimate from another well known company. The guy came, just walked around looking at some things. Never measured a thing nor wanted to see the cracks in walls of house up stairs or checked doors. Gave verbal estimate. Didn’t write anything down. Hmmmm.) I was shocked. Mike opened and shut every door, evaluated where cracks were in every room, measured and remeasured inside and out. Gave written detailed estimate and few days to decide. Very professional. He is nice and very personable. Explains everything to your satisfaction. He came up with foreman of our job to go over everything before starting. .Came up couple times during the job. Sean was the foreman on our job. He had a two man crew. I can’t say enough good things about them. They worked hard, were respectful of our house inside and out and cleaned up every day. Were here 9 work days. Sean always checking with me to see if was doing everything that needed done. Did not mind being asked questions. Hope we don’t need the B Doctor again but would definitely ask for Sean and his guys. Could not have had a better crew. Sean is very personable and knowledgeable. The team worked very well together.
