Called Phillips Heating & Air Conditioning when my 30 year old furnace died. They found a cracked heat exchanger which could’ve created a dangerous condition by putting carbon monoxide in the house, along with other parts that just failed. Needless to say it was a good 30 year run and I felt we got a good price on a much-needed upgrade. We also replaced the 30 year old central air at the same time so it was compatible with the furnace system. The crew arrived less than 24 hours later and had everything installed in about six hours. Very professional in the way they handled everything. Very pleased with how everything turned out and I would recommend them to anyone needing work on their heating/air-conditioning units.

Had a new furnace and ac installed. Extremely happy. Our house has never been this comfortable. On the coldest friday night this past January at 2 am with a snow storm blowing our furnace went out. We have a wood burner so we made it till Saturday morning . I thought ok I'll start calling at 8 am Saturday see if I can get a contractor out here. To my suprise my first call bingo a live person answers the phone ! Amazing not only did they pickup it was the owner Carmen what's up ? Ok I'll be right out shocked you're coming now ? Sure ! I'm not kidding within 5 mins Carmen says yep see the problem . Well needless to say not his fault, No parts for that furnace ! Now I did nurse it for 30 plus years so good run but now what ? Well after 5 more mins Carmen says I got a idea get it running but it's only a temporary fix she's done . We at 5 degrees and a foot of snow coming I said please do what you can to get us through the storm . Carmen we can try but sorry a new system is the only real fix but I'll get you heat until you decide what to do ! Perfect ...so the conversation went to what do I need and how fast can we get it . We'll after a hour talking and watching we went through several options and size needs ...All I said was Carmen put a package together call me with cost and let's get it done . A couple days later 3 trucks full of guys parts and pieces showed up . By 4 pm that same afternoon I was sitting in a warm house watching a snow storm from my window. Thanks so much to all the guys at Phillips heating Pros everyone of them .

Frequently Asked Questions About Phillips Heating and Air Conditioning
How often should I replace my heating system?
The replacement frequency for heating systems generally depends on several factors including system type, usage patterns, and maintenance history. Most heating systems last approximately 15-20 years with proper care. We recommend scheduling an evaluation with one of our certified HVAC technicians to assess your specific system's condition and determine the optimal replacement timeline based on its performance and efficiency.
What's the difference between a furnace and a heat pump?
Furnaces generate heat by burning fuel or using electricity, then distribute this heat through your home's duct system. Heat pumps, however, operate by transferring existing heat from outside air (or ground for geothermal systems) into your home during winter months, and can reverse this process to provide cooling in summer. Your selection between these systems should consider your local climate, energy efficiency requirements, and personal comfort preferences, as each system offers distinct advantages.
What should I do if my heating system isn't turning on at all?
When your heating system fails to activate, first verify your thermostat settings are correct and set to 'heat' mode. Next, check your electrical panel for any tripped circuit breakers related to your heating system. Also ensure the power switch on the heating unit itself is in the 'on' position. If these troubleshooting steps don't resolve the issue, we recommend contacting our professional technicians to properly diagnose and repair the underlying problem.
What is a zoned heating system, and how can it benefit my home?
A zoned heating system divides your home into distinct temperature-controlled areas, each with dedicated thermostats and damper controls. This configuration allows customized temperature settings throughout different spaces in your home. The benefits include enhanced comfort for household members with different temperature preferences, improved energy efficiency by heating only occupied areas, and potential utility cost savings. Zoned systems are particularly beneficial for multi-level homes or properties with varied heating requirements across different rooms.
Why is my heating system not producing enough heat?
Insufficient heat production can stem from multiple causes including restricted airflow from dirty filters, incorrect thermostat configuration, compromised ductwork that leaks heated air, or malfunctioning heating elements or burners. Our professional technicians can conduct a comprehensive inspection to identify the specific cause and implement appropriate solutions to restore your system's heating capacity and efficiency.
How often should I replace my air conditioning system?
Air conditioning system replacement intervals are determined by factors such as unit age, frequency of use, and maintenance regularity. Most AC systems operate effectively for 15-20 years when properly maintained. Our HVAC professionals can evaluate your current system's condition, efficiency, and performance to provide personalized recommendations regarding the optimal timing for replacement.
What size of AC unit do I need for my home?
Proper AC unit sizing requires careful consideration of multiple factors including your home's square footage, insulation quality, window placement and quantity, and your regional climate conditions. Our technicians perform precise Manual J load calculations to determine the appropriate capacity for your cooling system. This scientific approach prevents common problems associated with improper sizing such as inadequate cooling performance or excessive energy consumption.
What is the purpose of regular air filter changes?
Regular air filter replacement is fundamental to maintaining proper airflow within your HVAC system. Clean filters enable your system to draw air more efficiently, reducing strain on the blower motor and preventing premature component wear. This simple maintenance task helps preserve system efficiency, extend equipment lifespan, and maintain optimal indoor air quality for your home.
What should I do if my AC unit is leaking water?
Water leakage from an AC unit requires prompt attention. Common causes include condensate drain blockages, refrigerant leaks, or installation issues. We recommend powering off the system immediately, inspecting for visible drain line obstructions if accessible, and contacting our service department for professional assessment. Our technicians will identify the source of the leak and implement appropriate repairs to prevent potential water damage to your property.
What is the SEER rating, and why is it important?
The Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) measures an air conditioner's cooling output relative to its electrical consumption over an entire cooling season. Higher SEER ratings indicate greater energy efficiency. This rating is significant because it directly impacts your operational costs and environmental footprint. Energy-efficient systems with higher SEER ratings typically provide substantial long-term savings on utility bills despite potentially higher initial investment costs.
