Ace (Detmer) recently performed a furnace check-up for me. The technician, Matt, was very knowledgeable, showed up on time and patiently explained everything he was doing, which I greatly appreciated. It was a 100% positive experience!

Steven the technician was very warm and hard working; however, he didn’t put any covers on his shoes initially (should I have to ask a technician to put covers on their boots) when walking through the house (he did put them on once he began cleaning our boiler) and asked me to provide a tarp for our carpet to protect it while he cleaned our boiler, which meant i had to help clean up the mess after he left. What if I didn’t have a tarp?? He said our thermocouple (sensor to regulate the pilot light) strangely started acting up after he was done with the cleaning and he quoted us about $250 (knocked down from about $300) to replace a $20 part while he was there with our boiler open. Really? After I’ve already agreed to an almost $600 bill you need another $250 to install a part that was working until 10 minutes ago? No thanks, I’ll do it myself. [It is still working the next day so I might have dodged a bullet in not having him replace it.] I’m giving them 4 stars due to high prices and poor consideration for the customer. I’m not sure I’ll bring business to Ace Services (formerly Ditmer Hearing & Cooling) again. And I was a repeat customer for them.

Benito was the HVAC pro. He was great to have in our home. It was a minor fix, but he took the time to explain everything. Honestly, this kid has the chops for management should he ever choose to go that route. I’d refer him to any one of my family members and will do so

We have been life-long neighbors and customers of Frank Detmer and sons---now Ace and Detmer. Their top gun problem solver/diagnostician is Eric Bollinger. He solved the problem with our heating/AC system and our problem with our attic fan. Not only is Eric very smart/bright but also friendly and welcome in our home. Thank You Eric and Detmer!!

I feel like I almost got scammed. Called to schedule our annual furnace inspection prior to starting it for the winter. Appointment was easy to schedule. Tech arrived on time. Unfortunately, he shared that the blower motor was bad and there was “like a crack in the heat exchanger” and it would need to be repaired or replaced. The unit is 19 years old and at end of life. He let me know that the office would be calling for a repair and a replace estimate. Charged 115$ to replace the filter and diagnose the problem. Got a call the next day for a new furnace, they had no record of the request for repair estimate. I made the appointment for an estimate for a new furnace and requested a service estimate, it’s been two days and no return call for that. In the meantime, I’ve called 3 other places to gather estimates to comparison shop. The first company that came out, came same day, did a thorough inspection, and discovered that a capacitor was out. There was NO crack in the heat exchanger, and there was NO problem with the blower motor. After cost of a single part and service, the house is warm, and I feel like I was almost scammed by Ace / Detmer. I’ve found a new service company to give my business to. As the furnace is end of life, I’m planning to replace it, but it’ll be with the new company and not Ace / Detmer. Edit 2 days later- they refunded the charges.
