    As a contractor I try to minimize downtime as much as possible. As such, I called sunbelt a week in advance to order a scissor lift. I told them I needed the small one man unit because I would be picking it up with an enclosed car hauler with a 77in door. A week later I went to pick up the lift and they tried giving me a larger 2 man lift that wouldnt fit in my trailer. I explained that I informed the gentlemen on the phone that I needed the one man unit, that I know fits in my trailer and he said he didnt have one available. I asked if I could rent a trailer and the lift, he said they didnt have a trailer. I then asked, given the circumstances if he could deliver the lift as it was noon on a friday and they close at 5pm... and it seemed he didnt want to go out of his way to make that happen ether.... it was friday after all... I found the staff to be both unprofessional and unhelpful. I was refunded for the lift, but I wasted 2 hours of my time, and I had to reschedule the work I was going to perform with the lift.

    I am adding to the review posted by Jay below - same rental, same equipment. After renting the scissor lift for a month and a day, I called the office at 7 AM and told them to come pick up the machine. As Jay mentioned, the machine sat here for more than 3 days, over a weekend, actually. After it was finally picked up, I found, only by reviewing my bank statement, that I was charged for an additional day that I shouldn't have. I was never called and notified that they were processing an additional charge. I called the office as soon as I found the error and spoke with Erik, who put me on hold to confer with our rental agent, John, and then came back and agreed that I was charged in error and would be refunded the money. A week or so went by and I did not see the credit in my account, so I called again. Again, speaking with Erik. He AGAIN told me he would have to confer with John and find out if we were due a refund. After sitting on hold for a bit, Erik came back and told me that the manager was processing the refund right then and it would be corrected immediately. Another couple weeks went by, and I STILL don't have my refund. When I called the office again today, I once again got Erik on the phone, who went through the same song and dance again, reviewing all my charges, checking with John, and telling me that the managers have to process refunds. <Insert loud frustrated scream here> I'm a business owner. I understand that mistakes happen. Lord knows I've made my share. But when you make a mistake, FIX IT! Make it right. What we have been put through is not making it right. You've agreed that I'm due the refund of erroneously charge funds, you have had them now for OVER A MONTH, give me my money back. If this has to go to our attorney, it's going to cost you a lot more.

What do I need to rent a tool?

All you need is your driver’s license or a government-issued photo ID and a credit or debit card to pay for the rental upfront. No extra deposit is required. Increase your financial flexibility with our Commercial Credit account. Our online application can be completed anytime, from anywhere.

Is a deposit required for a reservation?

For customers without a line of credit, Sunbelt Rentals does not require a deposit to rent tools and equipment. However, you will be asked for payment information when you make your reservation. Your credit or debit card will not be charged for the rental period (one ((1)) day minimum) until you pick up the equipment. For Credit Customers, we will secure a deposit for your reservation. This deposit will be held within your account until the rental equipment is returned and the contract closed. Apply for a credit account here. If your project is quick and you only need the equipment for a few hours, Sunbelt Rentals does offer a Rapid Return rate. Return the equipment within four (4) hours of the pickup time and we will refund the difference of the Rapid Return rate. Rates will vary based on product.
