  Van Alphen Brothers is truly the only name you need to know for any masonry or brickwork project. I recently had pavers, bluestone, and several concrete pads installed in my yard, and the experience was outstanding from start to finish. I shared my ideas with Peter, and he designed a layout that not only matched my vision perfectly but also stayed within my budget. After over 20 years of trying DIY versions of my dream, I’m thrilled to finally see it professionally realized — and it’s even better than I imagined. The craftsmanship is top-notch: solid, beautifully constructed, and visually stunning. The crew was incredible — not just workers, but true craftsmen who treated the project like creating art out of stone and sand. Everyone was polite, friendly, and respectful, showing a level of skill and professionalism that’s rare these days. When the job was finished, they left the area spotless, so all I had to do was set up my outdoor furniture and enjoy. I can’t recommend Van Alphen Brothers highly enough!

  Peter and his crew do amazing work! This family run business takes a great deal of pride in everything they do. We had a somewhat small project sort of piggy backing off our neighbors concrete job. Van Alphen Bros exceeded expectations and even gave us more than we agreed upon. We’re very happy with the outcome. See before and after photos. Thank you!

  The big fibs the previous owner of my house told me were: 1) No problem with parking on the street, and; 2) You'll have a nice dry basement. Parking on my block is tough, year round. Very tough. And my basement, well, I used to dread every rainfall no matter how slight. My wife and I used a shopvac, mops and towels to deal with the water coming in. The other issue that arose over time was the need to repair or replace our aging sidewalks. Finally we had enough of patchwork solutions and Brooklyn style searching for parking spaces. We asked around about the best contractor for concrete work including sidewalks and driveways. We met with a few and opted for Van Alphen Bros. We hired an architect who designed our driveway to comply with a host of NYC regs and red tape and handed the plans off to Pete Van Alphen. His guys arrived on time, worked steadily until completion - also on time - and the final cost was exactly what we had been quoted. To say I was pleased would be an understatement. The driveway is beautiful but the other thing, the thing I had been a bit skeptical about, was the issue of water in the basement. The new sidewalks were nice to look at, no more cracks, as we expected. What I was astonished to find was that the sidewalks around the perimeter of the house now diverted rain water into the yard. Four years later my shopvac is very lonely. It has some mops to keep it company but they are bone dry. Of course, the question remains - do Van Alphen Bros stand behind their work if there is a problem. The answer is yes. An emphatic yes. We had to call Pete back to fix some minor crack in the concrete under a staircase. Pete arrived soon after. As he needed to use my new driveway to park his vehicles and equipment my wife asked him to be careful near my motorcycle. Pete said, "Don't worry, I have two myself, I know how he feels about his bike." Pete fixed the issue, permanently, with no inconvenience to us. A fair price, an honest quote, quick service and work done right and on time. That's Van Alphen. Pete and Sandra were great to work with. I recommend them for any masonry work you might want done - and done right.
