    Around 2020–2021, I had a heat pump and boiler installed at my home. Universe Home Services (Universe) installed the boiler, while another company installed the heat pump and thermostat. As a note, I failed my initial boiler inspection because Universe covered up my fire place clean out, requiring another day of work to remove the system and reinstall it and repair the fireplace cleanout. On or about November 24, 2025, I contacted Universe regarding an issue with my HVAC system: the boiler would not turn off. After an investigation, it was determined that the thermostat unit and control system were at fault. While the replacement unit was covered under warranty, the labor to replace it was not. In total, I paid $1,981.42 to Universe to have the unit replaced. The unit operated properly until April 18, 2026, when it began to continuously reset, making it impossible to use my HVAC system. Universe was contacted and responded the same day. Unfortunately, the technician who arrived was less than helpful and spent the majority of his time on a personal phone call. He initially stated the issue was the wall unit—which had not been replaced by the previous Universe technician, who only replaced the attic unit. After replacing the wall unit, the issue persisted. He then claimed the problem was the thermostat wire and scheduled an electrician to come out that same day. I was informed this work would not be covered under warranty. A few hours later, I received a call stating the electrician needed to reschedule for April 23, 2026. Because the temperatures were low and heat was an immediate necessity for my two-year-old son, I replaced the wire myself, only to find the system was still experiencing the exact same issue. I contacted the thermostat manufacturer on April 20, 2026. They agreed that their unit was at fault and are sending a replacement. I then contacted Universe to schedule the installation of this new unit—a service that should be covered under the labor warranty from the first replacement on November 24. I was told I would receive a call back. Since then, I have called Universe multiple times, including on 4/22, 4/24, 4/28, and 4/29. Every time I call, I am told someone will contact me, yet no one has reached out.

    Universe Home Services cleared out my home’s main line house trap, installed a new house trap, and fixed some bathroom toilet issues. I recently had new patio pavers installed in my backyard and Universe did an absolutely amazing job only removing the essential pavers - which I truly appreciated the painstaking care and expertise it took to access the area needed for the repair and installation process. I want to thank all those involved in the project (Melanie, Nick, Janell, Rob, Christopher, Hayden - please forgive me if I neglected to mention anyone else involved.) And a special thank you to Melanie who kept me informed In great detail of the entire project and what to expect. She went above and beyond and addressed all of my concerns and questions. I will be using Universe Home Services for my home’s future needs and I highly recommend them to others that may need their services.

    This visit was actually a repair of a emergency repair we had done in January (pipe burst due to freezing temps / NY). Back in January we had an emergency repair. Everyone's pipes were freezing around us. Our initial call, the responder called us back and gave us tips to get us through the night. Universe arrived the next day. Brian explained the issue and the fix; which didn't take long, considering the craziness of my tiny house. Fast forward to last week - we had the landscaper do a spring clean-up, which included re-seeding. To our shock, we had no outside water. Putting 2+2 together, we realized the January fix was to our outdoor shut-off valve. We setup an appointment for this past Sunday with Universe. I explained what happened. Since it wasn't an emergency, we called the office the following day. They told us someone would be here same day. Although they didn't arrive yesterday, Brian was here first thing this morning (Tuesday) and was finishing up by 10am - no charge. My original repair from January was a little under $1,100. I had a good feeling when I selected this company back in January. Which is why they'll be returning tomorrow for an electrical issue I'm having.

    I would give this company a zero if I could. On Friday April 17, Universe replaced my central A/C but left my boiler room without power. Because I have a Navien combo unit, I have had no heat or hot water for four days. Additionally, they installed the new unit blocking my attic return, making the attic inaccessible for the first time in 20 years. Sat. I sought repairs, their boiler tec. stated it was an electrical issue. Their electrician then tried to charge me to fix it, and stated a 240 line(I paid for) had never been installed and then began tampering with my boiler, I immediately put him out. Despite being expensive, BBB-rated Carrier dealer, management is dodging my calls and my sales rep, Jamie, has failed to resolve anything. Mon. April 20th I am still without basic necessities.

    I’m an NYC contractor, and I don’t typically call companies like this unless I’m out of options—but I’m glad I did in this case. I had a sink issue where the garbage disposal needed replacing and the drain kept flooding my kitchen. I actually replaced the disposal myself, but I couldn’t get the drain to stop leaking. What should’ve been a simple fix turned into a week of frustration trying to find someone reliable—nothing but excuses and half-finished work from others. I called Universe this morning, and they had someone out by noon. Everything was completed by 2 PM. The dispatcher was extremely professional and empathetic, and even removed the dispatcher fee after I explained that I normally wouldn’t use services like this unless I had no other option. That alone went a long way. Jeff Madonia did the work—he was efficient, professional, and got everything done in about 2 hours. He treated me like a fellow professional, but also had that easy, down-to-earth energy like an old college roommate you haven’t seen in years. No headaches. No babysitting the job. No back-and-forth over pricing. Just clean, straightforward work. Honestly, for something that should’ve been simple but turned into a hassle with other contractors, this was the complete opposite experience. 10/10. If you don’t want to deal with the stress of chasing down unreliable handymen who might have to come back three times to fix the same issue, call these guys. They give you an honest price, get it done right the first time, and back their work with a warranty.
