I contacted Robert Wilson Plumbing, Heating & Air (RWPH&AC) Conditioning to replace a blower motor for my furnace. After they installed the blower motor, the furnace was still not operating, so RWPH&AC advised that the home's sub-floor duct system was obstructed. They directed me to contact an air duct camera inspection contractor. I followed these instructions, and the camera inspection resulted in zero obstructions (at a cost of $200).
I then advised RWPH&AC that the duct system in the home was clear and open. At that point, RWPH&AC advised that the furnace and air conditioning system both needed replacement, which would cost between $13,000 to $16,000. Given the extreme price of this diagnosis, I decided to seek a second opinion. The second heating contractor diagnosed the problem immediately and advised the control board simply needed replacement, which cost less than $300. I believe I was intentionally misled into contacting a duct camera inspection and into possibly paying $13,000 to $16,000 for unnecessary new furnace and air conditioning units.
