My Frye fire logs in birch are perfect... the new burner with the remote is a dream. I prepped and painted the fire box in black and glass door trim. This week the firebox corner will be all tiled in a fluted ivory marble; I'm so excited. It was installed right before Christmas last year. Mike installed it quickly and I have no complaints at all a year later. Thanks Fireplace Peeps. Happy in Brigantine and enjoy the holiday season! Denise 🧑‍🎄🥰

We were very pleased with the work that The Fireplace People did for us. We had 2 projects, one of which was a bit more complex and they did an excellent job working with our other contractors to ensure the specifications were perfect and there were no issues. Every team member we met was professional, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. We were fortunate to have the owner Mike oversee all aspects of both jobs and offer great advice regarding selections as well as important technical considerations. Would highly recommend!

The team at The Fireplace People could not have been nicer or more professional. We needed help with our chimney piping and gave us several options on how to fix the problem. They worked around our schedule and it came out great. They didn't just get a customer for this job in particular, they now have one for life.

Recently, I was doing some research and gathering information for possible install of new gas fireplace log heater so I called The Fireplace People after doing some research online. I spoke to Tori and I sent her some photos through email and asked a few questions. She was very helpful to educate me on what I would need for my project. I was trying to convert my current my propane ventless log fireplace heater to natural gas before putting my home on the market for resale. Tori was very honest and helpful with estimates on what that would cost and what would be involved in doing the conversion. As it turned out, it was more of a project than we wanted to proceed with, and she was very honest to agree with us that what we were trying to do would not increase the value of our home. Although I was not purchasing something, I was still treated with the same respect as someone who was. Tori went out of her way and donated some of her time to educate me and point me in the right direction and I really appreciate that and that’s why I’m doing this review. I did research online about the fireplace people on their website and they have a beautiful selection of products displayed at their location and they are very knowledgeable of what they do. I want to give much respect to them for helping someone who was not purchasing anything from them at this time, but needed there input and guidance. Thank you so much and if I ever have an opportunity to do business with this company, I will absolutely be back. Highly recommend this to anyone who wants to create a beautiful fireplace in their home with the TV. They have many beautiful examples of what they can do and it’s quite impressive. Thank you to the staff at the fireplace people. You were very kind and helpful.
Frequently Asked Questions About The Fireplace People
Can a wood-burning fireplace be converted to gas?
Yes, converting a wood-burning fireplace to gas is a popular option due to improved efficiency and convenience. Natural gas is cost-effective and produces cleaner emissions compared to wood. It's essential to have a certified professional install the gas line to ensure compliance with safety codes and regulations.
What is the cost of heating a gas fireplace?
The cost of operating a gas fireplace depends on usage duration. Our experts estimate that a thermostat for 100,000 BTUs costs approximately $0.50 to run. For a 12,500 BTU fireplace, the hourly operating cost is about $0.12. Compared to wood-burning fireplaces, natural gas can provide up to 75% in cost savings.
Will a gas fireplace operate during a power failure?
Gas fireplaces equipped with a standing pilot light will continue to function during power outages, as they maintain a constant gas supply independent of electricity.
What are BTUs?
BTU stands for British thermal unit, a measurement of heat output. Generally, 10,000 BTUs can effectively heat an area of about 500 square feet. For more detailed information about fireplaces and BTUs, please contact The Fireplace People.
What is a direct-vent fireplace?
A direct-vent fireplace is a sealed combustion system that draws air from outside for burning and expels all smoke and vapor directly to the exterior of the building.
Can I use vented gas logs in a stove? In a fireplace? In a coal-burning fireplace?
Vented gas logs are designed for use exclusively in wood-burning fireplaces. They are not suitable for coal-burning fireplaces due to insufficient depth, and are not recommended for stoves because of safety concerns.
I am remodeling my basement; should I go with direct-vent or vent-free?
Direct-vent fireplaces offer an attractive appearance and efficient heating with minimal moisture output. Vent-free models provide substantial heat and aesthetic appeal, but may produce excessive heat if not properly sized for the room. When correctly matched to the space, a vent-free fireplace should not cause issues with heat or moisture. For personalized advice on fireplace selection, please consult our team at The Fireplace People.
